Most of my mods have failed on me over the last week or so. I am not a big fan of the box mod form factor, so I have been mostly doing Magnum mods (ala madog) from flashlights. The Radio Shack style tactile and micro switches are pretty awful and break down as quickly as five days of use. This facilitates the need to tear the mod apart, replace a switch and put it all back together. Additionally, I get some leakage into the battery chamber. Without the proper know-how and tools, there is no way to reproduce some of the really beautiful devices coming to market.

This was the Magnum I just retired for uber-emergency use only. Thanks to tape and putty, it held together. It is ver Zi Moshi-esque.

Inspired by the several folks using copper plumbing pipe and fittings, I threw together a magnum and passthough this past weekend with more robust momentary switches. They are not pretty, but have seem very durable and work everytime (so far). Each device (not including batteries) can be assembled for less than $10.

Nice, crazyhorse.

For many of us that cannot afford one of the beautiful devices coming to market, copper piping is an inexpensive material to create a very durable and reliable battery pack for atomizers. For around $10 or so, you can build one of these devices.

When your switch fails, upgrade to a switch rated at 1.5 amps or higher. The switch will be much larger than the micro switch currently in your PV. When you think about it, not a big deal since all you might have to do is cut another piece of 1/2" pipe a little longer than the one you are using right now. Super simple and easy.

This 801 has been going for over two months with no problems at all. It's ½" copper with a 14500 battery. I'll install a 3A switch ((275-0644) when this minimicro switch gives it up.

The body is the negative circuit.
