Im just wondering if anyone has had this issue before "supposedly" someone who works with my friend told him he had a cop put him in cuffs and search his car when he saw him smoking his pv (I dont know if this is true or not because I dont know the guy, but my friend vouches for him so..) I would think a cop would know what an ecig looks like i have heard you can use it with (OTHER STUFF) but still...

LOL - it has happened a few times for folk on the forum. I guess the thing to do is to keep your cool and be as reasoned as possible while officialdom catches up with the technology. A lot of folk just aren't with the times yet. So I can sort of understand it, but at the same time muscle flexing on their part doesn't help the situation because belligerence and "being wrong" don't go together very well. Maybe having some CASAA printouts in the glovebox might help in these situations?

This past weekend I was at a concert vaping. Some guy comes up thinking I'm smoking (OTHER STUFF) and whips out a sack to try to sell me. I mean right out in the open around the concession stands. He just takes it out in plain sight and I'm like, "Dude, you have the wrong idea, you need to go right now."

Never had a problem with the po po, but I can imagine someone has.

If you get stopped, be polite and educate the officer.
Educate them.on e cigs and a smoke free lifestyle, as well as civil rights regatding illegal searches.
It is an officer's job and duty to educate themselves BEFORE stopping and searching. This is the law.
That said, i have never heard first hand accounts of any isssues.
Always b courteous and polite, but know
your rights.

Rights are like muscles. Forget to use them, and you will lose them.

because e-cig can be used for something illegal welcome him to preform a field narcotics test on your juice :D

Do Not Do This. You are giving up your Rights if you do. It does not matter that the juice is legal and that you have done nothing wrong. Do Not Give Up Your Rights!

Really? You seem like you may be into conspiracy theories... Why wouldn't someone use their right to make an officer look silly? Exercising you right to let them test something isnt giving anything up.

If you offered to let them do a field test, you are then allowing then to search your car, your person, and take your fingerprints (and now blood too) if they want. Because of the potential for abuse, you should never let a cop do something they would need a warrant or probable cause to do.

I dont agree with the cops, but i can see their reasoning. There are PVs out there, not going to name any, that are designed specifically for other stuff. I work with a guy, and was telling him the story of how i screwed up with my protank on the way home from work, switching it out for a different tank with different flavor, and dumped about 1ml of juice on my hands, asked if he had ever spilled any juice on him and he said he doesnt use the stuff, only other stuff. There are ones out there for solids, there are ones out there for waxy/really thick oils that can be made with other stuff, but just because a few people are using those, it shouldnt ruin it for the rest of us. Personally, i think there is a HUGE difference between an ego battery and a Kanger ProTank in appearances when compared to the ones used for other stuff, and I know a lot of the cops in this area visit shops to see whats out and what is being used for what. But back to my point, just because a few people are using these things for illicit purposes doesnt mean the rest of us are.

Generally because anything you say or do can (and will) be used against you in a court of law.

Edit: Oh, you are Canadian it seems. Disregard, I dunno what things are like up there.
