I get a week out of a wick at 10W. When I break it down to service the coil and wick the ends are clean and the coil is starting to crust over. After I pull out the old wick, there's just a gray stripe where the wick contacted the coil. The wick is usually fine. It's the coil crusting that kills the flavor.
I could go lots longer, but when the flavor drops off the atomizer gets a maintenance call. I've used Rayon for a couple of years. Cotton is an inferior wick compared to Rayon.
Pay a visit to your local Sally's Beauty Supply store and pick up a box of Rayon. Make sure it says 100% Rayon on the side (Blue and White box). They also sell cotton coils. Both are coils used around the neck in a beauty shop to prevent hair product liquids from running down the customer's neck.
