Hopefully this link will help you to understand what the cotton inside a coil should look like after is as saturated with liquid. These are some of the more impressive photo's I have seen. The first of the four is actually a pic looking through the drip tip hole in the top cap and captures the coil and wick in place. Very impressive to say the least...

And when I get a chance I will try the cotton yarn as well see which works better for me.... Got so stressed and irritated went back to a carto and it's still not the same

Sterile rolled cotton at CVS. Works great, able to roll a tight wick with it and it wicks well.

Here,

This is for a big spool. Smaller one is about 2-3 bucks, more than enough for a lifetime of wicks.

The thing about yarn is that it seems to endure longer. And it sucks up the juice. I have been vaping all day and night on cotton yarn wick with a .5Ω coil since about the 19th of December. I always keep the MNKE topped off so at 4.2v were talkin' 35 watts.

And it's nice and seasoned with no soon end in sight. It's very resilient. I am using an original Phoenix V1

I think a few others have touched on this already but it might be the flavorings in your juice. I DIY my own juice and I have this one particular flavor - an RY4 - that gunks coils up beyond belief. I believe it is the Lorann's Caramel flavoring in it. Anyway . .this juice will gunk up a silica wick/coil in a day and a cotton one in a matter of hours. The coil itself doesn't burn at first . .what happens is dried up gunk collects on the coil and burns and tastes funny. If I don't change the wick, pretty soon the wicking performance will reduce and the wick will burn. The great thing about cotton is that I can just replace the wick when this happens . .don't need to wrap a new coil.

So - it might actually be your juice because you've said your wicks only last a few hours. With my DIY Ry4, my wicks only last a few hours. With other flavors, though, they'll last several days. With unflavored they might last a week or more. Do you have a light-colored or clear juice you can try?

whoaitsruss my heart goes out to you brother , but i gotta give you a thumbs up for your effort and i can say one thing you are gonna learn more on this one thread than you have the whole time youve been vaping and when you do finally get it mastered you can teach someone else :vapor:

Thanks man I appreciate it I'm already teaching two people how to coil but when it comes to wicking I tell them to ask someone else cuz my wicks last minutes or hours

I'll prolly pick up a differ juice brand because at this moment I've stuck with only one brand just because great taste and organic made as I was told.... (Brand name is nosty)

Well....the coil I just replaced only lasted about 4 hours. No idea why, sometimes it just happens. I was vaping away as normal and it suddenly started tasting burnt. When I pulled it out it looked really nasty and dry (not charred because I stopped vaping it as soon as I tasted burnt-ness). The coil wasn't gunked, either. It was a flavored juice but not a gunker - I'll usually get at least 2 kayfun tanks per wick with this juice. Anyway - keep at it. Even if it doesn't last long, it's still better than silica and I'm sure you'll get that magic 7 day wick soon.

Hmmmm..... So I went to a local vape shop and the guy that did a dual micro coil at .4 ohms out a lot more cotton than I did and and he was using sterile cotton and it's been about a day and it's doing fine.... I was also told not to drop juice directly on the coil instead drip it on the cotton now my question to you guys/gals does it really matter where u drip the juice?

No...not that Ive ever noticed.........drip right on the coil. The cotton will soak up any excess and bring it back to the coil. Hell, you can drip it on that center post if you want to.

I just think you had some kinda "Krazy Kotton".

But seriously, Ive just never had any burn in half like that.

Ive read all these posts and really do feel for you.

After seeing the pic with dark redish/brown juice and the wick coming apart I remembered I've had the same thing happen to me. The juice color looked almost identical, Storm Juice from Hurricane Vapor. I swear it's either the flavoring or another additive in the juice interacting with the cotton. 'Eating through it' wouldn't be the right term, but it's almost like it weakens the cotton fibers.

In my opinion, I really think it's the juice. I know some people add vinegar or alcohol to their juice, maybe some vendors do as well? Maybe it's acidic vinegar eating at the fibers? I dunno....but the same exact thing happened to me with that one juice.

You mentioned earlier that ypu were using "organic" juice.
Maybe if it was sweetened with organic stevia that could be the culprit.
I recently played around with organic stevia and the stuff gunked and burned my wick and coils in less than 3ml.
Something to think about.
I'm curious as to what is in this juice.
Maybe the flavors were extracted from things that are gunking then burning the coils.
Hmmmm
