I've been vaping for about 2 weeks now and coughing up all the crap in my lungs is so horrible!!! It's like it will all never come up!! I'm glad to be getting rid of the gunk and am now able to finally breathe again though! My question is how long did it take you long term vapors to finally hack it all up? And any suggestions to help speed the process up? Thanks in advance!

I'm using and Ego with a clearomizer. Seems to be working well to me, but as a newbie I guess I can't be sure. Just coughing up a lot of phlegm that is hard to get past the back of my throat. It's horrible, but guess thats what I get for smoking ;) Lol. Just glad to know it'll pass sooner than later! Thanks guys :)

Hello Jess,
I too am new to vaping, sometimes it can make me cough, what I do is draw with my mouth but I inhale with my nose, I find this to be a bit easier on my chest.

You may not want to hear this but it can take a really really really long time to clear your lungs out. The better part of a year even. Worry not, the worst of it will be over soon. Good thing you stopped killing yourself on smokes eh? Now you are seeing what you did to yourself all these years. It's all good though, you are on the road back.

Some folk have this reaction to PG (speaking from experience). While getting rid of the smoking overload in your lungs is great news, and drinking lots of water is absolutely necessary, - if you are vaping juice with a high PG, you might want to consider cutting it down, or even out with selecting a higher VG or even 100% VG with your next order. Just a thought.

Thanks NancyR! I'll be sure to try the throat spray if it gets too irritated! I have been drinking about 8 bottles of water a day just to be sure I don't get dehydrated! Maybe that's why it's coming up? Idk but it's hard to get out! Just thought maybe I could try something to help it out! Lol :) Thanks for your advice!

If you're already drinking enough water but can't get the phlegm up, try some Mucinex (one with an expectorant in it) to help loosen things up.

I smoked for 16 years, most of them 2 packs a day, and I started vaping while I was still smoking to get used to it and it made me cough more than the cigarettes. But then as soon as I quit smoking after about 2 weeks, the coughing stopped Immediately. Like overnight. My cough was so bad that my doctor referred me to a pulmonologist, and I had an appointment to check for emphasema (sp?), but I had to cancel my appointment! Hang in there! It's worth it!

I got that summer cold and it lasted twice as long for me as it did for non smokers. I was a 2 pack a day smoker for 27 years and decided that it wasn't worth being sick so much longer than others, it was time to quit. I've been vaping for 17 days now and just started coughing up the crap in my lungs but man I feel so much better. Has anyone noticed the difference in taste of stuff, some stuff tastes better and some stuff I dont like anymore.

When I had quit cold turkey(before returning to analogs) I also coughed a LOT for awhile. Very phlegmy. So I think it's a normal response.

High PG liquids do make me cough immediately, with a lot of throat irritation. More of a dry cough though when it happens. Even 50/50 is extremely harsh for me most of the day (easier at night). Higher nic liquids also are very irritating. I purchased some VG liquids, which are a lot smoother. Now that I'm getting used to vaping the 50/50 blends are easier to use, but still too harsh for a morning vape/chain vaping.
