hi.. noob here. :)

Hubby and I are just about ready to take the plunge to vaping as a tool to quit smoking. He was told today that he has to today.. not tomorrow or he cannot have a surgery that he needs..damn medical community.. it's his leg for god sakes -- but I digress.

I decided on e-ciggs in hopes that after a couple months we can both put these down too. We're in our 50's and have been smoking since we were teenagers and although my desire to quit is less than his - it's a support thing and with a chocolate flavor choice.. well.. it's just hard to argue with chocolate.

I have pretty much decided on the pro smoke e-ciggs, 0 nicotine for him and low dose for me. Neither of us are heavy smokers but we reeeeeeeeeally like the taste/feel. I'm a menthol smoker so obviously would go menthol and he wants straight tobacco flavor.

My plan was to augment the vapor stash from pink spot vapors but their tobacco flavors all have nicotine - which hubby cannot have any more of. (gonna be a lovely month around here)

I have the shopping cart at pro smoke open with their kits that include the portable charging case. Might anyone have experience with this brand and their flavors?

Is there another site with 0 nicotine tobacco flavors that might help a regular tobacco (not menthol) smoker get over the hump?

Welcome to the forum. I know nothing about pro smoke ecigs, but before you buy checkout Smokeless Image | Only The Best Electronic Cigarette | Smokeless Image Electronic Cigarettes - The Future is in your hands since they are a well respected, trusted supplier around here. All of their tobaccos and pre-filled cartomizers (The part that looks like a filter) come at zero nicotine.

Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on your point of view, an ecig will never taste like burnt tobacco from a cigarette. They taste more like raw tobacco smells. Some have an ashy tobacco aftertaste that can be satisfying to a noob. Also everyone's tatsebuds are different and what I like may be nothing like what will satisfy you or your husband. In the beginning it just has to be a tolerable flavor to get going and see what works for you. You may hate anything tobacco and want fruit or desert flavors. People that hate menthol cigarettes still may really like menthol vape. You just don't know until you try it.

If you like eventually you will seek out better, less expensive, more personal ways of vaping. At this point just get started.

Going to zero nic may be very difficult for your husband. Good luck to you and welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the forums!
Is it the nicotine that he can't have anymore of or is it analog cigarettes? Nicotine is about as bad for you as caffeine in moderation, unless he's going to be on medication that reacts with it. I'd assume it's more about the other 4000+ chemicals found in cigarettes. That being said, if you can make the switch on 0 nicotine all the better. Most people start at around 24mg/ml and work their way down over several months. Especially long time smokers. Unfortunately I've never tried those vendors so I can't give any input on their products.

Edit: Like juicejunky pointed out, taste is subjective. Also the Volt from SmokelessImage is very highly recommended. +1 for suggesting.

Vapor4Life is another good vendor for noobs that sells cigarette-sized KR8080-D1s with lots of choices for prefilled cartomizers. Any one in the supplier forum is probably pretty good but these two vendors make life particularly easy for noobs.

Vapor4Life

They also have a forum here once you get to 5 posts and can post there. People there should be able to help you with specific choices in flavors, but they too have sampler packs.

thanks for the welcomes :)

it is the nicotine that this doctor has issues with - he's even going to do a nicotine blood test in 3 weeks and if it's not low.. there will be no surgery. Darn military hospital.. no negotiations here. He's not even allowed to slap on a patch (insert colorful language here)

Hubby would be quite pleased with a porterhouse flavor vapor. He's really not a sweets kind of guy.

I went with pro smoke because they're made in the USA - not imported from china and they use VG instead of PG vapors... darn fine product reviews on youtube too.
I will check those other sites though :)

With 0 nicotine there won't be any sensation in the back of your throat or chest like you get with cigarettes. One solution to this is adding about 2% menthol (or vaping a menthol blend). Another is to vape at high heat (about 13 watts from what I've found), but for that you would need a more expensive and bulkier battery. If you go with the Volt, get some Low Resistance atomizers/cartomizers to use with it (will give you about 10 watts). If the whole watts and resistance stuff is a bit confusing don't worry about it, just get some starter equipment and see how you like it, then make adjustments from there. There's a whole sea of information on ECF and we're all here to help.

Pro Smoke isn't made in the US, just they are located here like 98% of the ecig suppliers.

I went to their site and they have many untrue statements about PG being radiator fluid, etc. They seem like another one of those over priced, undefined cigarette sized ecigarette companies that prey on new people that do a search in google on ecigarette review. (THey spend a fortune on web marketing) It's a 3 piece design which technology wise is about 3 years old.

Your money, but they look a bit shaky to me.

Don't worry about it. Cancel the order if you can and go with Smokeless Image if you want cig sized batteries. I've used them for little batteries and the X2s for over a year, good company.

If you can't cancel, we'll help you work with what you've got. Just about anything can be refilled if you're willing to tinker a little.

99% of all e-cig products are made in China whether the company is in the US or not. There are no small or "starter" e-cigs that I know of that are manufactured in the US.

I bet you will get your order faster from Smokeless Image or V4L too. Both ship almost immediately and a lot of these V2cigs, ProSmoke, Blu type ecigs take forever to ship. Many of us took the same path as you before we found ECF. I waited almost 90 days to even get my first complete $150 (worth about $50) kit from V2cigs. Three weeks for first part to arrive, last piece finally rolled in 2 months later. I was calling them 2-3 times a week to get it that fast..

Cancel if you can before they ship, but don't worry about if you can't. They do have a 30 day money back guarantee, so if you can float two kits you could also just return it. Those types of companies are so afraid of chargebacks from credit card companies, they are very generous with returns.

Seems like just getting started with something is more important. Ditto JENerationX's comment, we'll help you whatever you end up with.

I use IXquick most of the time too. It's my default.

well my pro smokes got here today. White for me and black for him.

We're all charged up (the batteries) and puffing away. I like the menthol - I ordered the lowest nicotine for me.. since I was smoking analog ultra lights and got the coffee and chocolate flavors too.

Just tobacco for hubby at 0 nic

I've already written to customer service - twice! Their claim that the cartridges equal about a pack to pack and a half of ciggs so far is waaaaaaaaaaaay off. I've been through 2 and started on my third in just about 6 hours. I'm not constantly sucking on them either. I'll get 4 or 5 drags and then set it down for a while.

I like the weight of the unit - I guess I thought it was going to be heavier than it is. While the cartridges are full - I am getting good vapor (I guess since I don't have a comparison)

I can see that I'm going to want to refill cartridges rather than replace them - and probably from another company if these folks don't have a good solution to using 3 cartridges in an evening.. unacceptable if each is supposed to be a pack of smokes worth of vaping.

not sure if it's standard, but when my atomizer gets warm to the touch, I am getting less vapor.. would have thought it would be the other way around.

fast reply from CS.. this is what they said:

Thank you for contacting us Opal. We will be happy to assist with this. All of our cartridges are produced by the same machine which checks fluid level before sealing the cartridge. It is rare that we see under filled ones.

The cartridges are estimated at 15-25 cigarettes based on smoking style. The industry rates a regular cigarette to be 10 puffs; Based on your description it is tough to estimate how long yours are actually lasting but rest assured, we base our descriptions accurately on independent tests. Many users do underestimate their usage but the best idea is to keep track of how many inhalations you are getting. If the vapor reduces, turn the cartridge to ensure it is all used before removal. You can also visually check if the cartridge is dry once removed by looking inside.

Rest assured well take care of it!

I look forward to hearing back.

Thank you,

**********

3 cartridges in 6 hours.. yeah right on that estimate

my analog smokes.. 12 drags isn't even half a smoke - I just went to count.

Good luck, Opal! I agree on the number of drags. Unfortunately, Smokeless Image (SI) pretty much has to conform to the "industry" call on how many drags are in a smoke - they wouldn't get much business if they were truthful when none of the other cig lookalike are. The positive is that SI is a good company, the carts are easy to refill, and you can upgrade to bigger batteries and clearomizers with the same connector.

Opal - the industry standard is just way off as you noted. All of them claim a pack or pack and a half for one cartridge but not one person in real life will ever agree to that. I think its pretty much a consensus that you might get the equivilent of about 5 cigs from one cartridge and less if you take long pulls. No worries though - those carts are easily refilled.
I suggest looking for the various methods on how to refill the cartridges and then head over to EC blend to check out their juices. My bf and I use them a lot and though there are other vendors out there, EC has great pricing. You can customize any juice for nic level (even zero). I think most of the juices do best to let them steep a week or so - but after that they are just great. Try the dragons blood :)

Dont be discouraged. It does take some time to get the swing of things but in the end you will be really glad you had some patience.

also - all of the carts gravity feed but when you vape you cig is horizontal.. Try setting the cig and carts upright when you are not using to ensure everything flows towards the atty.

Best tip ever!
by upright, you do mean battery side down, right?

I hadn't seen that suggestion before.. and briefly wondered about which way to set it down.. if there would be run off... that kind of thing.

I did see in another post somewhere in here (did a lot of reading again last night) that prosmoke does do the 30 day refund thing in case this just doesn't blow my skirt up properly.

Hubby was kind of intrigued with the tobacco flavor, but without nicotine in his.. he's still grabbing his old pall malls. I think I'm going to have to get him some low nic juice to refill with fast. I'll have to see how he does with it today.. maybe share my carts - which I am blowing through way faster than I thought I would.. this is not going to work out cheaper than analogs at this rate.

Hi Opal,

I'm new to vaping too--just got my first rig this past Thursday and I'm hooked.

I bought a Vea from Johnson Creek Smoke Juice and I love it. Both my pre-filled carts and the blanks I've refilled myself both do really last me a full day of vaping, and I smoked over a pack of Newport 100s full-flavor a day. I smoked only 6 analog cigarettes yesterday, so I'm meeting my goal of saving money by using my Vea instead of smoking a lot of analogs--in fact it's starting to suck to smoke those, so I'm considering setting a quit date and going off analog smokes altogether.

Battery life on my set is awesome--I went from mid-day Thursday to Saturday afternoon on one charge.

The smoke juices are great too--lots of different flavors, zero nicotine options on all of them, and the cartomizers are designed for refilling.
EDIT: They have two lines of juice, one a PG/VG combo and another VG only.

LOL, I should get paid for bragging these guys up but I don't--they don't have a referral credit program either, so this is all me just loving this rig.

Good luck to you and your hubby--most surgeons want you to quit if they're doing work either on blood vessels or bone because they say the bone won't knit or bind to any hardware and nicotine affects the blood vessels in the body so it might be worth checking on your own to see what the reason is with the surgery your hubby's having done.

ahhhhh.. so many products to choose among ahhhhh

ok.. question for the masses - is it just me or does everybody feel like there's a coating on their teeth when vaping? It's flavorless and not my whole mouth.. just my teeth.. kinda lingers for a while after I put the stick down too.

I got all VG carts... if that makes any difference
