Hey y'all: this forum is awesome, and you all are awesome too, which is why I am unashamed to ask some very n00by questions...

Cartos: I have heard varying reports- is it ok to allow liquid to get in the center hole? Will this damage the carto in any way, or shorten its lifespan (assuming I blow/clear the center out before use)?

Will the liquid vape unevenly within the carto? I tend to hold my PV with the activation button downward, such that I press it with my thumb: if I always hold it in this way will the juice on the "bottom" dissipate more rapidly than in other areas of the carto? Will the juice naturally disperse itself evenly within the polyfill?

When my PV is idle for a good period of time, should I take care to place it in any specific position; will the liquid settle to one side if I leave the carto/PV on its side?

Thank you in advance for tolerating this barrage of queries. :)

I overfill my cartos on purpose the first time I fill them. Then blow out into a papertowel. That way I don't have to leave them set and soak up the juice. So no problem getting juice into the middle. Just make sure you blow it out if you do. Not because it will hurt the carto, but because that is the path the vapor takes, so you won't get a good hit if its juiced up.

The juice usually flows with gravity through the polyfill. You can tell (with a little experience) if the coil is getting dry.

I almost always store my carto on its side. As long as there is juice in there, it will hit just fine.

One other thing: don't be afraid to change out your carto weekly. An old carto doesn't give the flavor of a new one. I don't mind spending $5/ month for fresh cartos. They may last for a month, but fresher is better.

Liquid in the center hole will leak out the bottom onto your battery. If your battery is sealed, it will not be catastrophe. It will just make a mess. Manual batteries are always sealed. Liquid in the center hole may also cause gurgling.

No, the liquid will wick properly however you hold it, just don't vape it dry, or even close to dry, allowing for spans of inattention.....LOL.......burning the filler will make for horrible taste.

No, it won't make any difference how you lay it down.

Cartos are very forgiving except for the filler burning issue.

-Is it ok to allow liquid to get in the center hole?
It is best to avoid this. Hold the carto up against a light and look into the center bore after filling. If e-liquid gets into the center bore, cover the base of the carto with paper towel or kleenex and blow it clear.

-Will the liquid vape unevenly within the carto?
Given a lot of chain vaping the filler closest to the coil could dry out first. In practice this rarely happens. Unless the carto is too dry liquid will redistribute itself fairly soon after vaping.

-Will the juice naturally disperse itself evenly within the polyfill?
Yes, but if you drip fill the carto (as I do) give the filler time to absorb liquid before adding more drops. Remove the carto for filling. Set the carto upright on paper towel or kleenex while it soaks. When a couple of drops exit the carto base onto the paper the carto is filled.

-When my PV is idle for a good period of time, should I take care to place it in any specific position?
No, not necessary. Storing the pv by standing it on end is more likely to result in knocking it over than storing it flat.

I have a question. Been using Boge 2.0 and 3.0 cartos. I fill them using condom method and they work great but after a while they seem to loose their kick. When I blow them out into a tissue I get a bunch of darker colored juice come out and after dripping a few more drops back into the top they are working well again. I guess this is normal, just wanted to know what am I blowing out. Is it just the remnants of what didn't vaporize? Is there a way to avoid this?

I have had this problem with some juices. You can really see it in clear dual coils. It is the burnt juice. Might be from vaping too heavy, or hot boxing. You might try slowing down. Or just keep blowing it out.

The darkened juice contains scale that falls off the coil during use and perhaps some heat darkened juice. This residue will affect flavor. That's one reason why I don't condom fill (bottom fill) a carto. Dripping from the top and allowing a few drops to exit the base during filling will help to flush that stuff out.

Center hole - it won't hurt your carto but if you have an auto battery (or any battery with an open hole in the the threaded end) you may kill your battery. And on any battery if liquid gets between carto and battery threads, it will short until you clean it up. That won't kill most sealed batteries but a poorly made battery or one with defective protection circuitry could be killed. Why would you drip it in the center hole? Take the end cap off. most use a plastic or delrin drip tip in place of the end cap so that is super easy to pull out to check the stuffing, or with carto off the battery add some juice

I rote the battery occaisonally. but you need to keep them damp. As long as you keep them damp there should be enough liquid at the coil.
