As you can tell by the banner in my signature, I haven't been off of analogs for very long at all. I consider this my fourth day without one - I smoked my last cigarette late Wednesday night/early Thursday morning before going to bed. The reason I quit then is because the deliciousness of vaping made analogs taste TERRIBLE!

The first couple of days were a piece of cake! I hardly even thought about analogs (other than thinking about how awesome it was that I wasn't smoking them) let alone had any cravings... but as the weekend rolled around I found myself having slight cravings. Uh-oh! I figured this was pretty bad - I had never had a problem with feeling terribly bad about disappointing myself or my loved ones when I failed at previous attempts to quit. This time was different though - I didn't quit because I told myself to quit - I allowed myself to try vaping without putting any pressure on myself. I think this caused me to panic a little when I started getting those cravings.

Anyway, I was proud of myself for not stopping to buy a pack but when a friend of mine came out last night I asked if I could bum a smoke and if he would finish it off if I took a couple of draws and put it out. He offered me a drag off of his instead - I took a small pull and immediately said "nope!" and handed it back to him. I guess I just needed a reminder of how bad they taste. I've still been getting little cravings off and on today but I know how terrible it would taste if I lit up a cigarette.

I just wanted to share that for some reason - I guess I'm proud of myself.

Anybody else have similar experiences?

Yes definitely!

About 6 months ago I bought a kit and I was dual vaping cartomizers and smoking for a while. I still smoked because the kit didn't quite satisfy me, anyway the cigarettes got nastier so I stopped vaping and continued smoking.

Then I bought a clearomizer kit about 2 months ago and have had the same experience as you, I had a couple of 'pulls' of a real cigarette at some point, tasted disgusting, and didn't satisfy me either.

I believe you either need to find a better kit, or a stronger juice to switch out when you get a craving.

I like a strong throat hit. Normally I will vape 10-14mgs all day, but every now and again (the more I vape the less it happens, usually when drunk) but I get a craving so I bang in a 18-24mg and chong away :)

Anyway, don't worry if you flop every now and again you're doing great by trying to kick the habit, just don't quit trying to quit :D

and congrats on day #4 :D

Excellent suggestions! I am already vaping 18mg so I guess I should get myself some 24mg juice. I have a couple of Vision spinner 1300mAh bats on the way with three or four different delivery devices but I really haven't been too disappointed in the performance of the blister pack I got from Myfreedomsmokes. I just gotta keep on keeping on. Thanks for sharing your story!

Hi theinlawjosie!

Yes it was definitely challenging to quit at first. Easier than any previous method I had tried in the past but still hard. I recently wrote a post about this and it has a few tips that might help you some: E-Cigarette Forum - cmccl - Blogs

Way to go on four days! Stay strong and keep vaping! The cravings will lessen with each passing day.

I had a similar experience (22 days analog free). I was in my car, and stopped at the gas station I'd always buy my smokes from. The cashier went to get me my "usual" and I told him I'd quit. I think it actually helped me, once I told him I wouldn't be buying any more, I didn't want to go back on my word!

It's nice being on this forum and understanding how and why people quit smoking for vaping.

I on the other hand was always known as the guy who was trying to quit but never could. Forever telling people I had quit one week and then lighting up the next.

"Couldn't quit this time?" was a familiar response, always with a snarky grin too.

I would think "At least I'm trying", it never really consoled me much, until a few weeks ago when I realised I had finally quit, I'm glad I didn't stop trying :)

Good going. In about ten days I have gone from three packs a day to two packs a week. I expect to be totally off of them in a very short time. And you're right, compared to vapes they taste like crap.

Definitely get a bit of 24mg. I've been smoke free for 44 days and use 18mg for the most part, but I still have to hit the 24 here and there during the day. :vapor:

Thanks cmccl! I think part of the reason I have been so successful with vaping is because I have tried to quit several times within the past year with varying levels of success. Most recently, I read Alan Carr's "Easy Way to Quit Smoking" book and although, it didn't make it easy to quit smoking (I made it a couple of days), I think it offered some valid points and put me in the right mindset to quit with vaping as an aid.

I've never felt as positive about finally giving it up for good as I have these past few days (even with the small cravings here and there - when I had tried previously it was nothing but cravings!). This community is definitely one of the many benefits of deciding to entrench myself in the world of vaping!

I'm glad you didn't stop trying too! I have tried many times with little success and am so happy I found these forums! They truly may end up being a life-saver!

Yes I get those cravings all the time! I work at a dealership with a bunch of old timers that chain smoke all day. That's what got me started in the first place. When I first started vaping a couple months ago I would bum the odd cig here and there and not feel guilty about it. It's not about the one you have it's about all the ones you avoid. I've found that now if I go out back with them and have a few drags off my pv while they're all smoking it helps immensely. I still get really bad cravings after I sell a car as those were the best smokes ever. Just keep on fighting through it!

First - congrats to you! Keep it up.

The cravings do get less & less, but for me they haven't gone away fully. I'm starting week 8 vaping & week 7 of no analogs. However, I still want to smoke at certain times. Mornings were the hardest, but not so bad anymore. This past week I got very aggravated with work and found myself reaching into my pocket for a smoke. But, of course, I didn't have any and pulled out the PV instead. A few minutes walking around vaping cured that urge. I love this product.

theinlawjosie,

I'm in the same boat.... Day 7 here without a cigarette - almost stopped and bought a pack today but managed to talk myself out of it. I guess the hardest part for me has been finding a juice that I really like..... I've found stuff that's tolerable - but nothing I love; yet.

My hubby on the other hand, hasn't looked back to cigs in the past 7 days- he has loved every juice i've brought home......It's been a lot easier for him. Sigh.... I wish it was that easy for all of us!

Best of luck and congrats! :)

Don't be hard on yourself. Quitting is very hard, even with a vaping alternative. You have already shown a genuine desire to quit. Be proud about that. You can do this. Someone earlier in this thread recommended a stronger mix to smoke when you get a craving. That is a very good idea. Be proud of the little victories every time you pass up the opportunity to smoke an analog. There are a lot of really great people here that can give you some support if you need it. Congratulations on the 4 days that you have. Don't be discouraged, use the resources that you have and you can do it. This site is living proof! Good Luck. :toast:
