Cravings were supposed to be gone!!!

Now granted, I've just had a medication change, so I might be able to blame that, but I just started having a craving for a cigarette like I haven't experienced in months! I'm about to lock myself in the bathroom at work and fog the place up with delicious vapor in 15 minutes or so, so I'm not worried. But I am rather stunned. Boy, addictions are such insidious nasty things!

Krisbkream sir sometimes they happen. Only suggestion is to pull out your highest mg nicquid, preferably one that tastes most like the analog you used to smoke, and the lowest ohm carto you can and vape it away. A very wise man who's name rhymes with KnowFragon once told someone that having a conversation with yourself about how you don't need the analog can make a difference. Believe me, it helps. :)

Sadly I only brought one juice to work and I've stepped down the strength a little recently to 14.5mg. (Half and half 18 and 11 for anyone who is confused) No worries though. I've just vaped to the point of hacking, and I feel better now

Mainly I think I just wanted to leave work and wanted an excuse. :insert sneaky ninja emoticon here:

I truly feel my analog addiction is like an alcoholic or drug addict ...it was that way for my dad too .I almost believe it runs in family like alcoholism .....why i dont drink much except a couple times a year or a social drink here and there .Dont even buy it unless company is coming ...gotta watch it even tho i personally have never had an issue .

I'm with you in a very odd way. I was adopted and know very little about my biological family. However, given what I know, I assume a low socio-economic status, which also leads me to assume an increased risk for addiction. I have to be careful just on the off chance I'm at risk. That and the very clear cut evidence that I am very addicted to smoking.

Kris, I just lost someone very dear to me and know what you mean. If ever there was a time to start cigs again for me, that was it. Yes, higher nic levels can help. And unapologetic chan-vape sessions. And a flav with stronger TH and/or taste. Whatever knocks you back in your chair. In the end, as you well know, the cravings do pass, and as I've seen during the past two years, they come less and less often. But yeah, cigs hook you like 20-pound fishing line, don't they? Man, I hate them now more than ever. Nasty crap. So good luck to you.

Very interesting thread, and I can see how stress can trigger a cig craving....Just being able to talk about it on this forum is a great thing, cus it pours light on the cig addiction.
Even though i get ribbed a little by friends and family cus I always have that 'stick' in my mouth, around my neck, or in my hand, I don't get upset cus I love not having to have to light a cigarette anymore! :vapor:

Thanks, Waylon. And don't mean to sound preachy to anyone, but I keep reminding folks to avoid that pesky thought that we can have just one cig, just to check how bad it will taste. Some folks here have done that, no prob, but many haven't survived the trial. Back to cigs for a while, back to the fight. I've seen that story played out here a lot in the past couple of years. No need to tempt fate, IMO.

Hey Kris,

Haven't seen you on in a while. Anyway you and I started about the same time. I had a somewhat similar issue. I don't have cravings for cigarettes anymore but I do have a wife who while she vapes, occassionally smokes a few analogs. Anyhow, about 2 weeks ago, just out of curiosity, I lit one up and took a drag. I realized pretty quickly that yes, it was something i do miss and there's nothing going to replace that feeling of actual smoking. I did only take the one drag and gave it to my wife. I didn't want to go back down that road.

The thing to remember about cravings is that they do pass if you just get through the next five minutes, you can do it.

KBK what you experienced and may experience again in the next week or two is the craving Rule of 3.
Cravings seem to run in cycles of 3.....3 days, 3 weeks or 3 months. I have written quite a few posts on this subject and the shocking intensity of the 3 months cravings.

Looks like you survived, so congrats on that! I have a theory that certain addictive nicotine enhancing chemicals are fat soluble. As the body finally purges the last of those chemicals it triggers an endorphin/dopamine response. 3 months without smoking and out of nowhere you almost feel as if you are suffocating and the only thing that will help is a cigarette.

Knowing that this is a normal reaction will better prepare you for the next time this happens. As long as you can get past that 20 minute freak-out period, it will pass. Just make sure to keep your vaping supplies with you at all times over the next couple of weeks.

The good news is......this should be the very last of your cravings.

You did good KBK, so just stay prepared and be strong......the fact is your body is simply making a final purge!

jbank.....I have taken an occasional drag off a ciggie about 5 or 6 times over the last the year. I must say....I love them...love everything to do with them except for the fact that they will severely impact my health or simply kill me. But in life, that just seems to be the case with a lot of enjoyable stuff.
