I can only post here so....

I'm using kayfun v4, cotton wick, and 3/32 drill bit. 8-9 wraps with 1.4-1.6 ohm, usually around 4.3v.

My wicks don't last long AT ALL before i get that burnt taste. Yesterday I had to change it 3 times which is pretty unacceptable since it takes a good 5-10 minutes take apart, dry burn, rince, wipe and rewick.

What the hell am I doing wrong? I hear about people's wicks lasting weeks, and here I am changing it 3 times in one day, what the hell....

Any ideas? Should I just try a different build?

The first tank with a fresh wick taste amazing, so I have that going for me, but I pretty much vape all day and it sucks having to change it so often

Some juices are just bad about clogging up wicks and coils. I have a fruity DIY that I have run 200mL through my Kayfun lite on the same cotton. Then I have another creamy banana flavor that I have to rewick every 10 mL or so. Custards, creams, sweet flavors, chocolates, coffees, anything dark, etc all gum up the works quicker than lighter, fruity flavors. But 3 times in one day is excessive. What juice are you using?

While highly sweet juices and darker juices will gunk up a coil quickly, it sounds like you may have a wicking problem more than a gunking problem.

Not knowing everything you are using I would suggest trying less cotton when you are rewicking. Cotton expands when it is wet so you want it to be loose enough to slide easily in the coil when you start out.

I have about 5 mods going at a time. Various builds, but all close to .4 or so ohms. All RDAs. All wicks last until I decide to change them. Be it a week or 2 or 3 etc.… EXCEPT my (diy) Captain Crunch. I gotta change wick about every 3 days. Not burn tasting, just not fresh tasting. So it's definitely the eliquid I'm using in that one RDA.

I build my micro coils for my Kayfun Lite Plus to 3.0 mm inner diameter, 1.5 ohm. The larger diameter is just easier to wick and allows the use of more cotton. I need to change the wick about once a week minimum. The actual coil can last months, just dry burn before re-wicking.

I try to use clear flavors and not use a Vg-heavy ratio.

As has been said above, some flavors tend to clog wicks & coils faster than others. Usually its darker and sweeter flavors, and those with a high Vg ratio.

I imagine you may be using too much cotton in your coil, a common beginner mistake. Too much cotton can stranglulate itself within the coil, prohibiting the free flow of e-liquid. Usually less is more.

I have used organic cotton balls, Cotton Bacon, KoJenDoh Japanese cotton, and Rayon. Rayon lasts the longest.

Same approx. build in RDA's. Don't do much custard but use Rayon. No problems burning in any flavor. Might be tank or cotton problem. I too, have to force myself to change the rayon every 3-7 days. I lose a small bit of taste after too much time without switching out wick.

have you tried to space out the coils a little bit. I use a small high thread count screw. The space isn't much but it is enough to keep the gunk from building up. This works best for my nickle builds

I vape a lot of Grant's Vanilla Custard in a KFL. I don't have any problems with my wicks (KGD) but my coils gunk up pretty quickly. I dry burn and replace my wick after every tank just to make sure that I get the best tasting vape (I do this regardless of the juice that I use). If you get a burning taste and you need to replace your wicks up to three times a day I wonder if you instead have wicking problems with your liquid/KFL or if you have too much or not enough wick in your coil. The coils that I build on my KFL are touching microcoils with an ID of 2.4mm.

Hi Camaroqqq, I also vape a lot of custards: Big Willies, Bryces, CLS, Gremlin, Colossus, etc and never get through more than 10-12 Mls before a rewick on a kayfun. Although wicking properly has helped longevity a lot,I think it just might be the nature of those custard juices. Especially the sweeter ones. I use the same diameter micro coil as you, though sometimes a 2mm, and use rayon almost exclusively for all flavors in my Kayfuns. I definitely notice a difference in organic-Japanese-rayon wicks with rayon lasting the longest before a rewick.

Three times a day is a bit excessive. You're probably doing something wrong. People think I'm crazy when I tell them I rebuild my coil every two days.

My ADV is a dark and sweet coffee flavored juice, and it starts tasting off after 2 full days of vaping (around 5-6ml). I could probably keep going another day or two, but when it takes 5 minutes to rebuild, I just take the time to rejuvenate my flavor.

I was vaping a cinnamon custard for about a month, and that lasted a little longer I think cuz it wasn't as dark.

I use Rayon in a kayfun. I tried Japanese cotton a couple of weeks ago, but found it didn't last as long as the rayon did (closer to a day and a half).

When I was using pre-made protank coils I was using a lighter colored juice and could only get 2-3 days out of them. It's probably cuz I'm a chain vaper, and hit it quickly and repeatedly so I can get inside more quickly.
