WOW, talk about an ordeal over nothing...I'd been warned about UPS (brokerage fees) but I wouldn't have expected them to be such d1cks about things. Hope your mod is working well and congrats on finally getting the plane to land.
Canada Customs has a standing order with UPS that we are not to process shipments containing smokeless cigarettes. We have forwarded your concerns to our Brokerage Department for further processing. We have requested to have your shipment submitted to customs for them to make the final decision.
Hmmmmm UPS acting on behalf of customs? Why did they even accept the shipment then? Something seems off...
I have been reading lately more and more vendors nic orders are being ''confiscated'' and destroyed.
Balderdash! Shipments may be confiscated but are typically returned to sender. I would be very surprised if they were "destroyed". Customs and Health would be inserting themselves with a large stick if shipments were destroyed without consent.
Oh and two more questions: where and how would they be destroyed? Using what authority? Show me the law.
Importing Prohibited and Controlled Goods
They will ''dispose'' meaning destroy.
''If prohibited goods are discovered, they will be disposed of and the importer may face criminal charges''
The CBSA will hold the goods and inform you by mail that you need the proper import documents before the Agency can release them. If you cannot provide the proper documents and you agree to abandon the goods, the CBSA will dispose of them or, if possible, return them to the sender.
Importing by Mail
''If prohibited goods are discovered, they will be disposed of and the importer may face criminal charges''
These goods are subject to import controls. The CBSA will hold the goods and inform you by mail that you need the proper import documents before the Agency can release them. If you cannot provide the proper documents and you agree to abandon the goods, the CBSA will dispose of them or, if possible, return them to the sender.
**sigh** That entire clusterF was months ago and has been since rectified. Old news. And not germane to getting shipments across the US/Canadian border.
Sent an email to health Canada about their advisory warning being defunct and what are their reasons behind enforcing it. Just for the fun of it, let us see where this goes. Maybe we can start bombarding them about this issue to force their hand, once I get a proper contact if you all want I can share it so they can get bombarded
