@Robert Cromwell I haven't been in a CVS in 3 years, but selling alcohol and not tobacco is the epitome of stupid. Lol because alcohol has never caused any health issues.

Health issues is the minor part of the problems that alcohol causes. Or to be more exact the excessive consumption of alcohol.

Raises hand... They used to have the best price on my pall malls.

That's Texas. The TABC is one of the most backwards agencies in the country. You can drink, but if you drink in a restaurant or bar you have to have a "membership" so big brother can track your drinking habits. You can buy beer & wine anywhere, but can only buy liquor in a "liquor store". You can't buy any alcohol in a bar or restaurant before noon any day of the week. You can order liquor in a bar on Sunday, but the "liquor stores" can't operate that day, just the beer stores, so you have to stock up on Saturday for football games. Now THAT deserves a facepalm.
The laws are crazy, but many of them are implemented by the county and not by TABC. The membership thing is definitely county by county and it's not about tracking drinking habits. It's there because the county is dry and the only way to sell alcohol is in a private club. Here in Fort Worth, one can drink in a bar without any sort of membership.

Meh...I've never had any use for CVS anyway. We have a CVS and Walgreens within spitting distance from where we live, literally across the street from each other, and while Walgreens isn't exactly cheap, I always always go there, 100 times out of 100, because they are not only cheaper than CVS, MUCH cheaper, they're better stocked, larger, and it's super convenient when I only need to buy one or two things, since it's so close. CVS can suck it.

I was just talking about their claim with my friend when shopping for beer and realized that if the stop and shop stopped selling ipa's, my drinking would definitely decrease. Just cause they are across the street. So if cvs has enough stores where they were across the street from everybody, and everybody was as extremely lazy as I was.... Its possible their stupid decision could decrease smoking?

But, what if you had an alcohol addiction?

So CVS caremark is not restricted to CVS?

Our ins forces us to use CVS or a pharmacy affiliated with them to fill prescriptions. Our little local pharmacy had to become affiliated with them to stay in business. On one of my prescriptions, CVS wouldn't reimburse them enough for the cost of the prescription and would have cost them $80 to fill it. My husband took it to CVS to fill. They said they weren't taking "new patients" and refused to fill it. Took it to Safeway and they've filled it every time with no hassle. The one at Safeway is affiliated, go figure. CVS also says if you fill a prescription at a pharmacy that also sells tobacco, you have to pay a higher price to fill it. This is very helpful for people who live in small communities. I loath CVS beyond words.
