It all depends on where you live. Here in the Detroit area, we have a pretty amazing B&M market. Prices are generally a bit more to cover overhead but that's pretty much the only con.

Yeah, there are a lot of vape shops around here too; I totally understand retail markup, they have to keep the lights on and such, I just choose in most cases to avoid that sort of markup by buying online. I do like to be able to see mods in person, to me they always seem much larger, in pics, than they truly are, but I won't pay +50% over a price I know I can get online. Mostly I DIY my own ejuice, but I understand that ejuice is the true profit-center for most B&M stores, and if I'm really hurting, I'll buy it retail, because at least that way I can taste it first -- and hang out with some nice fellow-vapers while I'm doing it.

But for the wildly-overpriced ejuice at one of those adult toy/paraphernalia shops... I just LMAO. :D

I prefer vape only shops but I'm not anti tobacco...just anti smoking of it. I vape a lot of NETs and the nicotine in most all juice is extracted from tobacco. From the standpoint of public perception, anything that can be done to separate smoking from vaping in people's minds is beneficial.

I agree completely, except for that one beyond-valuable fact -- it works to help smokers quit even when nothing else ever has. I understand the legalities of it not being classed as a medicinal product, and really we *are* better off with it as a tobacco product than as a pharmaceutical, but that just shows the limited thinking -- it's neither, and yet it works... so there has to be something completely wrong about viewing smoking cessation as strictly a medical/pharmaceutical problem -- it's so much more!

For anyone who thinks I'm being snobby, elitist, and ANTZ or whatever, I never went into tobacco shops around where I live to begin with.

The best price on cigs was always at the local Walgreens. That's also where I got my first disposable Blu that convinced me to stop smoking and vape full time.

I did go into a local smoke shop once because someone told me they had "e-cig stuff."

They did, it was all very expensive tiny 5 ml bottles with cigarette brand names, misspelled of course.

They guy running the store told me, "Do not waste your money, those do not work for anyone long term. There is no carbon monoxide like when you smoke, your body will crave that. You are better off sticking with cigarettes."

So, I've been mostly buying all my supplies, including my DIY supplies online ever since.

I recently went into a B&M simply out of nostalgia as it was owned by the same people who owned the first B&M I ever went into once I got my first eGo kit. It looked like Fasttech had come to stock their display cases.

I doubt I will go back into a B&M either unless I am truly desperate for something (doubtful) or bored/curious.

I "appreciate" the separation for me. So many lump the two together and tobacco is poorly viewed. My needs are THR...first. So, tobacco, cigars, roll-your-own, etc. just doesn't seem worthwhile since I felt the benefits to vaping.

Just me.

I do hope you understand that smokeless tobacco was the original, and still the most used form of THR, and has essentially the same low risk as vaping.

Desperate for something is also my criteria for visiting my local B&M, even though I like the shop a lot; but I have to need whatever-it-is *right now* or why pay those kinds of prices for anything they sell? I've bought a few driptips there, and on those they're actually fairly reasonable; even the price for the ejuice isn't terribly unreasonable -- at least, I felt that way until I started doing DIY. :D So I have to be in a position of waiting for several necessary ingredients and the USPS is not being cooperative -- which unfortunately can happen, if you don't plan ahead. I'm still trying to get the logistics settled for the flavors of my ADV, so that I have plenty made, and plenty more to make more if I need it.

I have a friend ho owns one of the best and most successful vape shops in my area. It started out as a tobacco shop; but a couple years ago, when vaping was getting popular, she began stocking beginner type e-cig gear, like cig alikes and egos. Little by little, her business became more and more vaping oriented, and less and less about tobacco. Today it is a well equipped vape shop; but she still has an ever decreasing tobacco business. Her plan is that when the tobacco business drops below 10% of total sales, she will dump the tobacco business all together. Meanwhile, one thing that has contributed to the growth of the e-cig business has been the conversion of many previous tobacco customers.

Unfortunately, there are many here who feel they must distance themselves from tobacco products despite the great research that has come out on SNUS, which qualifies as very good harm reduction method. NETs (ejuice) are also tobacco products. It's a foolish cut off nose to spite face thing.

Many seem to have no problem sacraficing smokers, who might get off combustible cigarettes with more exposure to other harm reduction products, for their own selfish political causes.

I find that to be not only bad strategy, but against my conscience, since I believe we NEED to be reaching out to smokers in whatever way we can to get them off combustible tobacco products.......not leaving them in the dust, alone in tobacco stores (with only cigarettes and cigars and ROY tobacco), like some seem to be advocating. ??

Most people here were all smokers not very long ago, yet seem to be willing to completely desert those "nasty smelly smokers".

I can find HUNDREDS of these posts, just on this forum "I quit smoking using Blu ecigs"........
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-need-help-finding-good-newbie-vaporizer.html

yet some people seem to not understand that these are bought in walmarts, covenience stores, smoke shops, etc. The point is that these products get people STARTED vaping.

The online company I've been buying my loose tobacco and papers from has gotten into selling vaping supplies and their prices are good. I bought an istick 30 from them and today ordered an Aspire Nautilus tank and coils. They ship UPS very fast. I'm glad to have them as a source. I wonder if they'll change their business name though after awhile. I've noticed their tobacco supplies seem to be decreasing while they've increased the vaping supplies.

And that's my whole point about the tobacco store in my original post. They sell cigarettes, RYO supplies, cigars, have a cigar lounge inside and now have a huge focus on vape supplies. Even their employee uniforms are directed at switching smokers to vaping with the slogan "Vaping Kicks Ash".

Sorry for being snobbish, but...

...anti-tobacco people are completely beneath me.

Heh... I agree. If not for tobacco, where would all that lovely nicotine and WTA come from? Maybe other plants could supply the nicotine, but my brain seems particularly fond of WTA, so tobacco is still very much my friend, I just don't care to smoke it. Or smell it when it's burning.

but would you buy vape stuff from a cigar shop????

I would in a heartbeat! If my local cigar/pipe tobacco shop were to start carrying vape related gear I'd pick that up as well as an ounce or two of the same pipe tobaccos myself and my dad used to enjoy and extract it!
