Cyclone troubles

My cyclone clones from fasttech in finally came in, so I put together a couple coils, test the atty with my multimeter, and it comes back 0.8, no short. cool.
But when I mounted on my Grand, I got a collapsed spring and a warm battery.

what would cause this problem? (the only rba I have experience with is the RM2)

screw it to the mod and ohm it out in place. if it's shorted you'll see it

sniff around the positive foot on the atty's 510. Does it protrude enough? too much? is it well insulated on its edges? I once had one where the + didn't protrude and the ID of the neg collar was small enough that it actually touched the mod's center pin too.

k With the atty mounted it still reads .8 no short. (I put the positive lead from the MM on the center post of the atty and the negative on the spring. is that right?)

yeah, not sure what's going on there, have you removed it and re installed it? (the atty) maybe it compressed the connection enough to short the first time, but now it's not? .8 isn't going to short a spring, try with the cap on the atty and ohming at the firing pin to ground spring, you're cap may be contacting the coil and you don't see that with the meter when the cap is off

also, is the driptip metal (if you ohmed w/o the dt)?

I had a partial spring collapse due to the metal drip tip going down too deep and shorting against the positive terminal. I only use non metal tips now.
