Plus the kit comes with the nifty Bloog box and directions. Also a good thing for newbies.

What shooter said. Why charge more for the same items in a kit? The only difference is the two velvet battery pouches, and they threw them in my order anyway. Investing in the kit is supposed to save you money, not cost you $3.99. :)

What he said. If a kit is $49 and I can buy the exact same things individually for a total of $45, then of course I'm going to do that and save myself $4. At the VERY least it should cost the same, then you buy the kit only for the 1-click convenience. But they should always be less, as an incentive. So instead of $45 for pieces, charge $44 for the kit.

Was it something I said?

I don't often admit to this here, but I actually have the non-bloog mini-pcc due to the stocking and kit pricing issues. Which is to say I don't KNOW, but have heard that the mini PCC from bloog doesn't come with instructions, while the other guy's does.

It doesn't. They give you a URL to the PDF version, but I didn't receive a printed booklet.

Man, either I've developed some form of dyslexia or I need new glasses.

In both the examples I posted, I misread the kit price as being only a cent or two difference in price (I misread the basic kit price as $45.95 and now I see it's actually $49.95), so I thought, well at least Bloog is no longer charging MORE for the kit than the individual items.

I'm really not bad at math, I just can't read my own figures even though they are typed. Sheesh.

Of course, you are right that the price for the kits should be lower than the separate items combined, and now I see they didn't even solve the issue of the kits costing more than piecing it out.

Thanks everyone for your patience with me. Sorry I required having you explain it to me like I'm a 6 year old. :) I'll be calling my eye doctor first thing in the morning!

I think raising the battery price might price Bloog out of the market. It won't be long before someone is providing a product that is similar in performance. When that happens the new provider will more than likely either have an "enhanced" product and will charge the same or slightly more for it OR they will have a product that is the "same" and charge less in order to garner market share. If, when that happens, Bloog is perceived as being overpriced (and potentially sub-standard stocking and CS) they will have positioned themselves negatively and will lose customers and new business more readily.

In this instance, regarding the kit pricing, it is actually more of a Customer Service issue. It creates the negative perception that the company is attempting to deceive the customer because there is an expectation that a Kit would be cheaper than the sum of its parts. At Bloog only ONE kit, the Ultimate Starter Kit, is cheaper than its components.

For e-commerce, where most shoppers buy on price, and where the PV community is always looking for the latest and greatest and the tech is so damn fluid and growing, it is imperative that pricing be carefully considered and not solely based on some internally desirable price point.

I agree, I received word last night that one of my favorite places to buy liquid will have these exact same batteries soon. Another place said they will most likely carry them as well in a month or so. So there will be multiple places to find stock, which is a good thing for us consumers.

exactly, exept theyll prolly all be merican...

oh, ok, I understand now. yeah, the ones I am referring to are in the US.

Michelle is lamenting about the fact that there aren't any suppliers of these products in Denmark or UK, so she can order them without worrying about customs.

I'm sorry Michelle, I wish there was something we could do. Maybe Bloog will?
