Is the LCD on the Darwin supposed to blink about every 2 seconds when in the on position even without pressing the button to activate. If I swing the arm into the on position and do nothing but watch the screen, it blinks repeatedly.

Seems, it should work this way. My Darwin blinks all the time when not in 'off'.
Define blink - as in on and off repeatedly, or it turns off and stays off. If the latter then it is normal = conserve energy.
Darwin continues to Evolv and has undergone a series of improvements since original release. The flashing light is part of a newer systems check and is perfectly normal and expected. This feature was added several production runs ago.
There is a COMPREHENSIVE Darwin thread in the NHaler subforum. It is a bit lengthy and does take a few social detours but pretty much every conceivable Darwin topic has been discussed.
