Just a update:

Two more weeks of physical therapy on her foot and then maybe she will out of the boot and in a brace, then maybe back to work.

Lots of maybe's in there. Gotta love non committing docs. lol.

All in all, she is doing good physically. Emotionally...she has good days and bad days. But then...don't we all. ;)

She is finished with PT, out of the boot, and in a ankle brace. Regular thick soled shoes. He wouldn't release her back to work yet though. Another 4 weeks and re-eval.

She is happy to be back in her own shoes & walking as near normal as possible. She will have a permanent slight limp with range of motion limitations in her ankle. But she knows how blessed she is, it could have ended up so much worse. She is in really good spirits, healthy & well, and looking forward to putting this behind her finally.

No other news until she goes back to work.

They of course have not settled her auto injury case yet. Maybe now they can submit a final $ total to that ladies insurance.

Thank you all soooo much for your thoughts, prayers, & support through all of it!!

Wow, she's had a rough time of it! Hope things get better soon!

I've had 9 (yes, read it again, 9) accidents, all in the state of Texas (3 in the same intersection!); and Texas insurance sucks! They only give you the value of your car at the time of the accident, which usually amounts to just paying off the car (when my husband had his 1 accident we ended up with some extra because it was worth more than we owed at that point). With one of my accidents I still had to make 2 payments on my car even with the insurance, because I owed more than it was worth.

I imagine the reason that the lawyer didn't want to contact your daughter's insurance company is that if the insurance company pays out a claim to her then they can raise her rates at renewal; which would be counter productive.

The worst part about settlement is that it can take months for all of the hospital/doctor bills to come through; we didn't settle my husband's accident for more than a year because the hospital demanded that the full bill be paid since the insurance company paid it (a $9000 discount for not having insurance, so when the auto insurance paid it the hospital said the extra $9000 had to be paid too!). Fortunately they changed the amount of the settlement even though we'd already signed it before the hospital started throwing a stink, so it got covered in the end. She fought with the hospital before paying it though, they double charged us for a few things. He had 1 CAT scan, but they charged for 2?

I hate hospitals and auto insurance :p
