I started vaping on Friday night. I purchased the Joye 510-T Starter Kit and 5 different flavors of e-juice. I'm starting to get discouraged. All the juice tastes the same to me and not very appealing. So after talking to a few people, I went online this morning and bought another starter kit from Smoke51. This one is a "duo" kit with a carto and battery instead of the 3-part like the 510-T. Am I spending more money than necessary here? And can anyone tell me why I can't "taste" the juice? I want to just pick these up and put away the analog completely... it's not working!

Don't forget after sometime smoking your taste buds aren't what they should be, I found just by sticking to it for a week or so I can now taste the different flavours much better - it's been nearly 2 months and everything seems to be tasting better including my food and beer

Thank you! So you think it's just my tastebuds? Sounds like you had the same problem at first!

vaping rules is right. give it time. My first experience was with a three piece 808 and it tasted like I was smoking plastic. after a couple , say three weeks, I could really tell the difference between juices. after a couple of months you get to where you can taste the carmel, or popcorn, or walnut or whatever tones are in the recipe.
Just relax.

Not sure which flavors you've tried, but my experience starting out was very similar to yours.
Realize you taste buds have been damaged from smoking, (many years for me) and will take time
to heal. But heal they will, even food will taste better....:)

I used cinnamon, licorice, menthol, peppermint, strong flavors with extra flavor shots where available from
the vendors. Drink lots of water, switch flavors often, and get your daily dose of nicotine.
The longer you vape the more flavors you'll be able to enjoy, both vaping and eating or drinking.

Oh yeah you've definately have a bit of a wait on your hands. But don't get discouraged. 35 years of damage can take a bit. I had 20 years of damage and it took me 2 weeks to really start tasting mine. But I do know that in my experience I never was able to taste my juice in any of the ego products. So I got a tank with a silver bullet. Everyone is different and when you first start out you can end up going over budget a bit trying to find what works for you. Eventually the cost will even out and you'll be on the gravy train to goodness!!! Keep on Vaping!!

Everything had less taste than my normal cigs for a couple of weeks, but haven't had one of them since day 3, which is better than I expected. Wouldn't go back now.

Also been told I don't smell like an ashtray, neither does the house

Welcome to ECF kakg2x. You're going through what most of us have and still do from time to time. Remember to drink plenty of water and also change out your flavor once in a while. I try not to vape the same juice day in day out even if it's a favorite.

Yes, your spending too much money. Smoke51 seems very over priced for what they are offering which is minimal at best. If I may make a suggestion to you. This might be a much better choice and make your vaping experience and transition from analogs much easier.

I hope this comes out as encouraging rather than discouraging kakg2x but six weeks and hundreds of dollars later I still haven't got it right either BUT I'm sticking with it even if it does cost me a bit more because 1) when I have managed to hit the sweet spot it has been soooooo sweet 2) there are an astonishing number of people on this forum who have got it right and are happy and fulfilled vapors so it has to be possible and 3) this is the first and only thing I have come across since becoming a smoker that has allowed me to drastically cut down on the analogs and I feel pretty confident that when it finally all comes together it will get me off them altogether. Its frustrating and expensive right now but that's got to make it worth it in the long run right?

What everyone said is true, it's going to take a while for your taste buds to come back. The juice that got me through the I can't taste anything phase was Atomic Cinnicide from Tasty Vapor: Welcome to Tasty Vapor

You will taste this juice, it's powerful and it's tastes just like an atomic fireball candy. After almost a year of not smoking I can't vape Atomic Cinnicide because it's too strong, it should be perfect for you. Also their Cherry Cola is real strong too and good.

Hope this helps.
