Okay, yesterday was a bit rougher than anticipated. LOL. I can't believe I am going to say this but I feel a bit snappy:facepalm:.LOL. My husband has asked me twice in one day if I was going dumb or what. My brain feels a bit slower. Day 2, wondering on this day what I have gotten myself into? But, holding on and looking forward to not coughing every morning, and not wheezing with a simple cold. I do miss my smokes, but I'm trying;) Was wondering if its normal to hack your brains out on your first vap inhale of the morning. It's like im coughing a lung out. LOL. Hope you all are doing great!

It's quite normal to cough first vape of the morning. You are expelling all the junk that's in your lungs from smoking. It'll subside when you've cleared all the tar & crap that's in there.

I'm at nearly 5 months smokefree! The coughing is gone & I feel sooooo much better than I have in years. I smoked for 45 + years. Hang in there & you will soon be a nonsmoker.

Like mentioned above I coughed up crap for several weeks after switching from analogs to vaping and the weezing was around a bit but after a few weeks maybe even a month it tappered off, even after 8 months without analogs I still get the smokers cough from time to time but nowhere near what I use to. take it day by day and all will get better. Just don't give up and Keep On vaping!!!

I hacked every time I tried to quit smoking, typically the first few days to a week.

Then I got to where I hacked in the shower and during the day, I am glad vaping is an option for me as I am well on my ay to being an ex-smoker at nearly 3 months now.

You might not be getting the same amount of Nic but your body will adjust in a day or two. The hack and mind fog will fade

Hang in there.

I'm vaping 11mg using the safecig. I looked up my Misty light 120"s and it said 11mg so I figured it was the same. I have to place an order with safe for more atomizers today. Still trying to figure out how many boxes to buy for the month. I was(LOL) a one and a half to two pack smoker a day for 25 years so I still don't get how long one atomizer lasts or what its equal to? Anyhoo, I am doing okay now that the morning is going on and I have my second cup of coffee in me:) Love this forum! Oh, quick question, How do you know when its time to switch atomizers and not a battery run down? Just trying to figure it all out:) Hope you guys are having a good morning:)

I find it's nice to have a couple of different strengths. I do 18 when I wake up and when I crave a smoke, 12 most of the time, 8 near bedtime.

I know what you mean about feeling like your brain's not working at 100% -- this is day 8 for me and all last week I've been dropping and knocking over things left and right.

When I bought my first e-cig they suggested 24 mg/ml @3.7 for someone that smoked a pack a day. I have found that number to be close to the 2.5 ratio discussed in other threads. When I went to 6 volts we cut down to 12 mg /ml

I have since cut that down a little but yes, you might have an easier time near 18 as suggested. I hate to tell someone to nic up but clearly you are having withdrawal symptom.

Sounds like nicotine withdrawal and detox. The dumb feeling, coughing and several other factors are all part of the detox process. For the nicotine you just need more for the morning and , for me, after meals.

One of the things I found to help was to stand up the ecig when I wake up so that it gets good and wet before the first vape. Give it about 5 minutes and it'll be less harsh. Also sweet flavors, I like a caramel or cherry tobacco help alot. And don't take a deep full draw for the first one in the morning.

And don't feel bad if you just have to have a couple cigarettes each day while you work out the bugs in your system. Just a couple is better then a pack. It won't be long before you find the taste of cigarettes nasty and stop them totally.

With or without vaping you can hack your lungs up for a good month or two after you stop smoking. It's the lungs working the tar out and the tiny hairs in your lungs and throat starting to break loose and function again.

When I quit smoking with the lozenge a few years back I had the massive hacking and felt like the cat drug me for a few months. While vaping it did help more than the lozenge did, but there are still physical and psychological withdraw.

Nicotine is not the only alkoloid in tobacco you get addicted to. Your body and brain chemistry is getting used to not having those other alkoloids in your body.

I know I (and a lot of people here at ECF) have quit smoking by tapering off of smoking by vaping. Not everyone can go cold turkey and straight to vaping.

My advice is to not get down on yoruself if you slip up and have an analog. Focus on the good instead of the negative. "I went 3 days without a cigarette, I haven't been able to do that in years!" You'll also find the longer you go without a cig the worse they will taste, which is extra encouragement from your body to work through the cravings.
