It's day 3 -- I was in heaven yesterday, today not so much. I've quit before and I know this is a hard time to get through. But my trouble right now is that my tongue feels like it is on fire, lips too. I really upped my water before even starting because I had read all the advice about keeping hydrated. Advice would be appreciated!

Vapers tongue shouldn't make your mouth and lips feel like they are on fire. Make sure that liquid isn't leaking from your device onto your lips and into your mouth. Not only could it make you sick, but NOT something anyone would enjoy. And if its not leaking, then just drink EVEN MORE WATER. Day 3 was a huge turning point for me. Congrats and hang in there. It gets better.

Your clearomizer is probaby getting hot! That's the one thing I dislike about top coil clearos - and then everything tastes the same because it's all so hot - at least for me :) I agree you're probably vaping a little too much (I know I do). I agree - drink LOTS of water! It's possible you need a higher concentration of nic...

Its possible I over vaped a little - definitely no drips or leaks though. Drinking lots of water and laying off today!

Don't lay off today, don't want ya going back to stinkies! Slow down and maybe try a different juice. Your using a triton right? I got dry lips when I stopped stinkies. I guess I was weting them a lot when I smoked.

That's all? After 38 years smoking I vape 12mg, but I vape probably most of every hour.....I can't tell if I love the new habit, the juice, or if I should have gone higher nic. Either way I have so much 12mg I can't justify upping to a new stash of 18:p

i started on 24mg nic, and I vaped 5 to 10 minutes an hour. From memory you've got 12mg nic? so maybe go higher, and vape less frequently initially.

that was when I initially started vaping, now I vape more often at 12mg, just like you mandy andy.
when i put a fresh coil in, i can murder a 3ml tank in an hour. but most of my coils are all gunked up, and an hour of vaping is maybe .5 ml

Relax. It's normal. Eat something nice. Don't just sit there doing what you used to do when you smoked. You are now different, so do something different. Bundle up, and take a short walk. Breathing fresh air is now amazing, and the exercise will help a lot.

Remember, the first 48 hours are done. Just don't try to vape away everything. Take it easy, and do other things. Hey, take a nice hot bubble bath. Make a pot of onion soup. Bake up some yummy cookies. If you are a coffee drinker, make a cup of tea. Call an old (non-smoking) friend, and visit them. Put on Steely Dan's Aija.

And take it easy with the vape. Hit it a few times, smile, put it down, and continue with all the other cool things. Don't let the vape be 100% of your day.

And OK, then, when's the last time you listened to Carole King's Tapestry?

All good advice! However, let me tell you that my first week I vaped my head off, burned tongue and all LOL I enjoyed it so much, and I really did NOT want to go back to analogs, so I just persevered - oh, and I didn't drink nearly enough. Later in the evenings no matter what I vaped everything had a strange slightly tangy taste! In spite of that I vaped on - and have never had a craving for an analog. YMMV:p

The tongue situation I'm not sure as to what the cause might be, because I've never experienced it luckily....the lips feeling burnt though might be like others have said about you not wetting your lips like you would if you were smoking... I know I had to start using chapstick, partly due to vaping, and partly due to I had just moved to Texas from Florida as well... so... yeah.... I wasn't used to the 2% humidity here lol!

I vaped (and still do, now that I telecommute for work) like a fiend from the start, and yeah... I know its been said, and you said you are, but drink LOTSA water. Also, fruit juices help with the detox effect as well!

Hang in there and stay strong!!! We're all here to help and encourage you! :toast:

I would bet you might be hot boxing it without knowing it. Think of it similar to when you USE to (like, that, "use to") smoke and especially when you were upset or nervous about something and you would take drags off a cig quickly, over and over not even thinking about it.

Well, when your close to the filter and hot box you get some burning in your mouth/throat/awful taste. That's kinda what you're probably doing with the Ecig. Every time you pull on the ecig, you heat up the batt/coil/wick and juices. If you don't allow a cool off time, it can almost like over heat causing burnt juice, condensation in the drip, hot/burnt coils and wicks.

So be sure to concentrate on the slow draws, taking your time in between vape draws and you should hopefully see a decrease of this. Also, for some reason the number 3 is hard for some smokers- third day, thirty days (or third week) and third month. Watch out for those "trigger days" and soon it will pass.

Not gonna go back to the smokes, just wishing today was like yesterday! Remember I said how "easy" it was? Definitely jinxed myself! Amanda - nothing was hot at all, you mentioned maybe I had experienced. I am wondering about the PG/VG thing and any possible allergy.

Nothing you physically touched was hot but that doesn't mean the internal components aren't hot. If you chain vape, the coils and wick and juice will get hot and condensation can build up in the drip tip and also become hot. This is then being vaped into your mouth and may cause a burning sensation.

Besides slowing down and allowing the PV to cool off a bit, you could try periodically taking off the drip tip and use a paper towel and light blow in it/dry it off or rotate out the PVs you got. I think you got a couple of Halo batts and tanks? Use one for a bit then put it down and use the other so neither one is over heating and see if that helps.

Keep us posted!! Hang in there.

Thanks for all the tips. I didn't vape for about 24 hours and my tongue felt better. So I thought I would ease back into it and just vape a little every hour and see how it went today. By hour #2 my tongue was feeling so irritated again, I stopped. I am going to let things heal a little longer and try out a few other suggestions, including possibly a 100 percent VG juice. I smoked the Blu ecigs before getting my Halo Triton and had no problems with it and didn't have any of these symptoms -- blu disposable ecigs from the gas stations are 100 percent VG. It may be just my luck to be one of those people who is sensitive to PG. I'm definitely NOT giving up, I have seen how well this can work. If any of you have a favorite VG juice, I would love to hear about it. Thanks again for the tips and I have been reading as much as I can!
