I always had an unusual smoking habit. I would have four or five in the morning before work. I never smoked at work. When I got home, I'd smoke another half dozen or so. If I was having drinks, I could smoke a pack in the evening. Weekends was a smoke my brains out holiday.

I thought Sunday would be the big challenge. The AM was easier than I expected. I hit the vape a few times with coffee, but had no urge to smoke regular cigarettes. Oddly, I seemed to have more energy than a normal Sunday morning.

Late in the afternoon, however, I got the urge for a ..... I bet everyone here knows about that little voice in your head anytime you try to quit. It's that voice that tells you it will not hurt to reward your hard work (not smoking) with just one smoke. I hit the vape pretty hard for an hour or so and the urge went away.

So far, so good. It is a change in habit, but no where near the agony of quitting cold turkey or wearing those stupid patches. The biggest challenge so far is figuring out what to do with the extra time. I can vape anywhere I like. That means no more breaks to go outside.

Congrats on your will power so far! Honestly, the moment before I took my first puff of an e cig was the last time I craved a real cigarette. I was a pack-a-day for 10 years, I only wish I started vaping sooner. The only time it gets hard for me is if I'm drinking, then sometimes it feels like I can't get enough vapor, but I still haven't relented. 3 weeks and counting..

I also thought the challenge for me would be when I had a drink, but I found that if you pick the right e-juice to go with your drink, your drinking experience is enhanced to a new level. It is almost like having a good snack along with your drink and that urge to smoke just does not really arise.

That's a great tip. I started with 18mg "premium tobacco" flavor. I had no idea what to choose and figured that was a good start. I'm already looking at the flavored juice, thinking that could be fun. Maybe I can find a burger or pizza flavor ;-)

Hey Gordon.

I had a huge crave this afternoon as well. I almost drove down to the store to get a pack. Instead, I took a nice hot shower and came up with a brilliant idea.

I dripped my tasty tobacco 25mg juice and went OUTSIDE to vape it. I never smoked inside the house, so that's been a real treat.

I vaped that direct drip dry while standing out on the patio. Felt good.

Crave gone!!

This is so crazy as it describes my smoking habit EXACTLY. I would smoke 3-4 in the morning with my coffee and on my way to work, and 4-5 on my way home and after work. I never, ever smoked at work, because well, I have a high level position and I honestly think it looks weak. Further, I don't want my employees thinking "this guy stinks like smoke". But, like you, the weekends were a free-for-all. Friday nights were a pack and a half.

Anyway, this past Friday was the first time in 16 years I've drank and not smoked. All thanks to my Bloog MaxxFusion.

I'm the same way. I went drinking at a concert thursday night for the first time since I started vaping. I also was worried, but I loaded up my carto's with strong 24mg RY4 juice, and just chain vaped my way through it.

I truly believe that these are the best way to quit. Just get a ecig you're comfortable with, and start with a strong liquid and you should do well!

Cheers!

I hear you Gordon. Even tho I didn't light up an analog in the beginning, I sure did want to. It gets easier over time to resist the urge to light up.

My challenge is going to be when we are out camping and sitting around a campfire with a drink in hand. So far I've been doing excellent when around others who light up. Touch wood. I can do this, and so can you. :)

You/We are not alone!!!

I smoked like a Fiend on the way to work, Lit up in my car just before I started the walk across the parking lot (I purposely parked ~80 yards away) the correct distance for 7 good long drags at my particular stride. Tossing the .... just before I entered the building. It really was a precisely orchestrated operation...

Admittedly, I OD'd those first few days staying above the cravings...
And mellowed out, finding that "groove" by the middle of the second week.

Its been that new day feeling for the last 31 days

Just get your routine in place.... stock up on juice & power options.
Set up a fill & clean routine, and you'll be stylin in no time....

Congrats on the switch!

congrats on the willpower GG. The change of habbit/routine can be quite disruptive compared to smoking analogs. Vaping is a different experience and requires different habbits.

It's so true. It really helps to try to view the vaping experience as different that smoking analogs. My toughest times are when I'm out having some drinks with friends. I find that I chain vape when I'm in those situations, and although I'm constantly puffing I'm perfectly happy to not be smoking analogs. It's funny, for the first time in years 2nd hand smoke actually bothers me. I smell that smoke and I actually get grossed out, a "grossed out" that I'm proud of now. :)
