After more than 3 months I still get the "urge/craving/whatever you want to call it" for an analog, a few times during the day. They are getting fewer and longer between them.

I know it isn't the same, but my Dad quit smoking over 40 years ago and he says he still gets a craving a couple times per week.

We're all different but vaping certainly makes it easier :)

I still think about them once in a while. Like right now when I think about I have to change the head on my nova and clean the tank out and do my normal maintainence on my stuff. Smoking was so much easier. It's just a fleeting thought though. Not so much a craving, more of a missing an old friend.

OP, just try this: draw the vapor into your mouth, hold it there for a tiny bit. French inhale if you can. Exhale through your nose. Most of your nic intake is through the soft tissues in your mouth and nasal passages. Slow down and relax while vaping, think about the flavor and the texture of your vape. Enjoy the experience. Don't treat vaping like the OMG I NEED NIC. Try to take it to an enjoyable place and after a while it will become easier. Just don't give up.

It took me a month to make the switch and I still had almost a carton left when the switch happened. There is no shame in smoking and vaping. Eventually you may find your brain actually prefers the vape over cigs. That's what happened to me. Slowly the vape became preferable and the cigs JUST GOT NASTY.

This is where i am at now, I am a 35 year smoker that has been 3 to 5 PAD at times I spend 500.00 a month on cigs its killing me and the wallet. We tried the cheaper e cigs before and only lasted about a month before we gave up as the cost was about the same. Now I decided to try again its been about 9 days and I am useing about 3 to 5 ml per day and usally less than 1 pad sometimes only a half pack. I refuse to give up but there is a big learning curve and this place has helped alot

I was wondering if i stop the analogues altogether will the cravings for them stop?
Okay, let's get right to the point here... it is different for everyone.

There are a LOT of people who have switched from smoking to vaping overnight and never craved another cigarette again.
And there are some people that struggle with cravings weeks, months, or maybe even years later.

And there is probably the majority of people where the cravings fade over time.
Sometimes quickly, sometimes more slowly.

Generally speaking, when you get to the point where you like vaping better than smoking, that's it.
The question then becomes what does it take for YOU to reach that point.

But when you find the right gear for YOU, and the right flavors and strengths for YOU, it WILL get a lot easier.

They'll quit, mostly, in due time. But don't be beating yourself up too much if you're down from a pack and a half a day to 6 or so -- that's great in such a short time!! Remember, as far as the craving go, you're not craving a 'cigarette' you're craving the nic in them so I'd suggest have a higher nic content tank setup as a spare and, when you get those cravings, go to it for a while until they're gone...

Several others have said it, but I want to chime in because who doesn't love a dog-pile of praise and encouragement?

You're doing GREAT. You've cut down from 30+ cigarettes to 4-6 a day. That's HUGE. Don't let yourself get discouraged because you haven't given them up yet completely. For some people it's harder, because every brain is different, and that's where the addiction is. Every cigarette not smoked is a damn victory.

I agree that you probably need to up the nic concentration in your juice, and tweak your PG/VG ratio to compensate. I get a satisfying throat hit with a 70/30 mix, but your mileage may vary. Heck, mine might too - I'm still pretty new at this, and ordered a bunch of juices in different blends and strengths, to try and find exactly where my sweet spot is.

Also, what Ryedan said is absolutely spot on. The physical action of vaping is different than smoking, and if you're inhaling the vape straight down like you did your analog, that may be contributing a lot to the harshness. Draw the vape in with your mouth, let it linger in there for a bit. Then, if you really feel the need to inhale, go ahead.. but you may get to the point where you don't even need to do that.

Finally, it might feel weird at first vaping when other people are smoking. They might give you strange looks, ask you lots of questions, or even try to tell you that vaping is just as bad or even worse than smoking. Don't let the uninformed opinions of others get between you and your goals. Educate yourself, from here and from the CASAA.org website, and talk with your friends/neighbors about it. You may convince them, then convert them, and have your own little vaping group! If not, don't sweat it - you're doing what you have to do for you.

I have came to the conclusion that you still get cravings for a cigarette after you vape because you are addicted to some other chemicals in the cigarette other than the nicotine itself. For an example I used to smoke nat shermans occasionaly because they were additive free and I really liked the smoke a lot because it seemed so much cleaner than a camel BUT I still craved a camel or marlboro right after even though I got my nicotine fix because of the additives that were missing in the Nat Sherman. The more you vape and stay away from the additives and chemicals in cigarettes the easier it will get I think.

I also found that when I quit the first time, the thing that really helped me stay quit was getting healthy all around. I started exercising and improving my diet at the same time. Feeling great all over and being healthy really helped to steel myself against the cravings. In fact, without running every day, I couldn't have stayed quit for nine years. This time around (I'm starting vaping tomorrow when my kit comes in the mail, and smoking my last cigarettes today), I am planning on doing the same thing. In fact, I blame myself getting hooked back on the cigs last year because I sort of let myself fall apart health-wise, stopped exercising, gained a little weight, and said, oh what the hell. Everything else is crap in my life right now, why not smoke. It was like a willful slow suicide.

Get healthy, get optimistic and remember - quitting smoking is like saying yes to living.
