I was on 16 nic but it was strong and i was coughing from it. So i got 12 nic. I guess everyone is different and i just have to stop the analogs and see what happens after a few days.

Inhaling straight into your lungs can be harsh. If you are doing this try a drag into your mouth first, then inhale. The amount of vapor you inhale makes a difference too, so taking a shorter drag will give you a lighter, more gentle vape experience.

The suggetion to try higher VG content is a good one. I vape mostly 50/50 pg/vg and have had no issues with any clearos I've used. If your juice does get really thick and you have issues, add a drop or two of water to a tank. That will thin it pretty quick. If that works for you, get some distilled water and you're set.

I smoked a pad for 37 years. I started with 18 mg and went down to 12 after a few months. I was noticing headaches when I vaped too much which I did to fight off cravings and was why I first lowered the nic. The cravings definitely get better over time, but we are all different in this regard. Take it easy on yourself. If it takes you a few months or a year to totally loose the smokes, so be it. Every cigarette you don't have is a victory!

I quit the day I started vaping. 2 PAD and 18mg was fine. About the 3rd week got some evil cravings. Just vaped like hell until it went away. Still had 3 packs of cigs in the house. I was going to quit no matter what and that mind set got me through it. Droped to 12mg now and still get them but not as bad. Only takes a few minutes and it goes away. It does get better the longer your away from it but you have to be the one who makes up your mind to never have another. It;s been said time and time again but it's not the ones you've smoked, it's the ones you haven't.

The quality of the setup makes a big difference in cravings. I started with an auto battery cheapie that was honestly a bigger pain so I ended up smoking again. My next setup was a 510 kit with cartos and that was a lot easier, but as the cartos got gunked up they'd gurgle and I'd get a mouthful of juice (ick). I ended up smoking again. Finally I got an eGo with Vision Clearomizers (v1, this was a while ago) and haven't looked back. Now I'm still using eGo as backup but moved on to an APV like most people do.

The other thing that made a BIG difference for me, I actually smoked regular cigarettes but found the tobacco flavors and the cigarette clone flavors to be nasty. They tasted nothing like an analog so I struggled with cravings, smoking after meals etc. Finally I tried straight menthol flavor and that worked the best for me. It has the same burn going in as an analog and the sensations were really good for helping me through cravings. After the switch to the eGo and menthol liquid I'd just vape through the cravings and within 2 weeks they were gone. Just vape your face off whenever you want an analog ;)

It's from person to person.

Some, like my self stopped the first day without looking back and haven't even thought about analogs.
Some, have cravings, like one dude at my work. He find negative stuff about e-cigg all the time and still smokes sometime but he is really trying to stop. He also have some problem to go away from the rituals from smoking.

If you smoke, don't feel bad or anything, i'm sure the cravings will go away eventually if you continue vaping.

I have had friends that quit smoking and 2-4years later started again because all they was thinking about was smoking. But if you can just manage to get rid of that thought it will go away!

I'm no expert but 4-6 a day from 1.5PAD is quite a major milestone in my eyes!

From what I understand a lot of the addictive properties of normal tobacco are not in e-cigs, such as MAOI's which keep dopamine and other 'happy' chemicals in your brain for longer, strengthening the nicotine habit.

My uneducated advice would be to go higher nicotine, and find a mix that isn't too harsh for you (VG based seem to be lighter on the throat from what I've read). I'm sure if you have elevated nicotine in your body the urge for normal cigarettes will subside, and the your brain will restructure itself to no longer crave the crap in normal cigarettes.
You may consider your advice uneducated, but I don't.
So please post more.
:)

I was wondering if i stop the analogues altogether will the cravings for them stop?

Yeah, they do stop. I'm coming up to a year of no cigarettes and have no cravings for them. When I do have a craving its for a vape these days. It does change - but it takes a while for that mental switch over to happen I found. Hang in there. :)

after 1 week of no cigs you will start to realize every day is getting better. not smoking is the most empowering thing i have felt in a very long time. remember the worst will be over in 1 month. at the end of the day, you have to be the one to jump off the cliff. no one can do it for you. the rewards speak for themselves. :toast:

I am not trying to be rude here but this is the same thing i was told when i quit cold turkey. Which makes me think what's the point of vaping nicotine if the withdrawals are the same? I am going to try really hard as it is morning here now and not to smoke at all today and just vape.

I've found vaping is nothing like cold turkey. I vaped as much as I needed to - and still do. Give it heaps as we say in my neck of the woods.

I was thinking about getting one not only for me but my husband too. He was doing so well and then yesterday with the sun and warmer weather the guys all sat outside for lunch and he felt uncomfortable using the ego-c. I would like one for when i have morning coffee with my neighbour before work. For some reason this is when i get a huge trigger. I am good at controlling the urges and they are not to bad but at times they just come out of no where.

Hi Deeo,

I switched from smoking to vaping 3/20 so this is day seven for me. The first five days, I thought about cigarettes maybe three times (for as long as it took the nicotine from the ecig to get in my system, so only a minute or less). The sixth day I went back to work (I was on vacation before that). I thought about cigarettes a few times yesterday... but was also not chain-vaping. I think that made a big difference. Even still, the urge was not strong enough to even consider going to the store. I ended up vaping about once an hour through the work day and made it through fine! I quit cold turkey about six (?) years ago (and made it three years without a cigarette). I can tell you that for me, the withdrawal/cravings were no where near as bad vaping as when I quit cold turkey. Your experience may be different but I thought I'd throw in what I've been doing...

I have been using 16 mg juices. I was a pack plus (maybe 26 - 30 cigarettes) per day smoker. I actually found that 16 mg was a little high for me to do all day long because I chain vape so I switch between 16 mg and 11 mg. I'm mentioning this because some folks are saying to go higher. I think everyone is different. Maybe because you're choking on the vape, you're not puffing on the ecig (because it makes you choke) as much as you need to in order to not crave them?

I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this because I didn't read the entire thread. I've read here on ECF that sometimes the tobacco flavored juices are more likely to make you cough. I don't know why this is, but it is true for me. I have a menthol-tobacco flavored juice and that makes me cough much of the time while the other juices I have do not (even the ones that are the same strength of nicotine). I still use the tobacco sometimes because I like it, but find I use the other flavors more.

Anyway. Hope this helps. Good luck and I do hope you stick with it!!

They will stop, but only if you vape the right way. Which is why I always recommend to start at a higher than expected nicotine dosage, then work your way down to what suits your needs. The craving will go away because you have something better and healthier.

occasional smoker = 6mg nicotine
light smoker = 12mg nicotine
medium smoker = 18mg nicotine
heavy smoker = 24 or 36mg nicotine

I thought I was a light smoker so I went with 12mg. That was my mistake. So I went higher and mixed 12mg with 18mg nicotine juices. Now? Happy vapor. :)

No. You will still think about it once a while.
You can lie you don't, but you do.

Once in a while is okay but would love to have a day where i don't even think about analogues. BUt i know i have to quit them altogether for that to even possibly happen. All i know is when i quit cold turkey i graved everyday for 7 1/2 months. Even got anxiety.
