Now that is a good question. I like both of them.

The Novas because they are easy to rebuild. The flavor is a tad muted in comparison to other devices but in general good vapor, flavor and TH.

I also like the DCTs, not a fan of cartos but these things work. I got my DCT stubby setup from CV yesterday. Glad I did.

Which one is better: I think this comes down to preference. The DCTs will now be included in my vaping arsenal.

Vivis are great if you want something easy, and don't mind cleaning them/ replacing heads (either re-building or buying new ones) reasonably often. Also they do mute the taste of some juices.

Carto tanks are great if you don't mind punching your own cartos.

Personally I think the learning curve is shorter for Vivis (and other clearos), but the maintenance is too much for me. I like the way carto tanks work and love the flavour.

I prefer a carto tank to the Vivi Nova myself. After using several Vivis just to make sure mine wasn't a dud, I gave them away. Way muted flavor for me, some juice getting into my mouth and the wicking issues threw me over the edge. I use single coil 3ohm cartos in my tank at around 4.5 volts. Platinum Megas are my favorite from IkenVape. They wick juice well, don't flood and last for quite a while before tightening up and needing to be replaced.

I really like the VVN for low running costs.

They do require quite a bit more maintenance than a Carto Tank. But I was just super against buying box after box of cartos.

Haven't bought a replacement head for my VVN yet. The stock ones are generally too low QC and just don't seem to perform properly for me.

But once I rebuilt mine, the muted flavor issue was gone and that is really the only negative I can think about.

I think crazy vapers (that is me and about 95% of the community) requires more than one tank/carto/clearo/atty.

My kit includes Fluxos, Eternity RBA, Genesis Did Clone, Nova Large, Nova Mini, DCTs and Stardusts.

I still have not given the RBAs a full thumbs up --- they can be very problematic

The Novas are good because you can easily rebuild them

The DCs are good because they work and you don't have to fiddle around with them

The Fluxos are good as long as you apply a very minor modification.

The point: If you just want to vape without having to deal with carto & atty crap then get a DCT ...

Vivi novas definitely.

I was using the DCT cartos with tanks a few months ago and I kept swallowing ejuice! I initially bought the 1-hole cartos but kept getting dry hits so I ordered the 3-hole varieties next-- it's a hit-and-miss affair. Some cartos work perfectly for around 2 weeks then the flavor got muted after a while. Some would flood immediately, and some would wick slowly. I removed the tank to keep the juice from getting sucked into my mouth but I kept wasting ejuice coz they kept leaking; after you dripped your juice and put it down, you'd notice the ejuice leaking into the PV well(?). So I bought a dripshield and that solved the problem of leaks but the muted flavors after using them for a long time bothered me. Cleaning them would improve the flavor but worsen the backflow... the only solution was to buy new ones every so often.

Finally saw the vivi nova and I've been using them ever since. No leaks so far, no more of the juice going back to my mouth, vapor production's awesome, and the flavor from my ejuice is good. Only thing that kept bugging me though is that I heard you'd occasionally get a short because of the way they're made. I tried rebuilding one and it was performing well but after I heard of the reports, I threw it away... I think it was ninja who said that even though you'd think they were performing well, you'll never know when they'll short out.

So now I've just ordered a genesis DID clone to see if it would perform better than the two. But as for your question, I would prefer the vivi nova.

Speaking of "rebuilding the coils" ... is there a tutorial or instructions on how to do that somewhere? ... Using a somewhat thicker juice in one of my Nova's and it's becoming a bit of a nightmare. (Other thinner juices working great, btw) ...

Wondering if it's the coils that's the problem ...

I'm a newbie - still trying to figure all this stuff out ...

This might be the same video, but here's pbusardo's video on rebuilding Vivi heads; A PBusardo Tutorial - Vivi Nova Cleaning & Rebuilding - YouTube

Thank you for the video, I was nervous about cleaning them because I wasn't sure what water would do to them and now that I see how easy rebuilding is, I'm going to look into it once I get more comfortable with the equipment I'm using. That was super helpful.

Plus watching his vaping technique showed me what I was doing wrong and why I wasn't getting a hit I was happy with all the time.
