Protege was working good. Now dead! Tried new battery, tried other atomizer, tried 801 adapter and other atomizer and other battery, no matter what I do it is dead! Must be the switch.... got it for Christmas and was working good. Switch is definetly the weak point. Arghhh! Come on guys for over $100 it should work!

No brownie points earned trashing community vendors directly on the forum. You need to take this up with Puresmoker and work directly with them to get this resolved. I have not dealt with puresmoker at all but I will say that several of the folks that have done this on the forum after having products act negatively .. were not happy campers for long after doing so. The vendor will take care of you, your unit could have been defective or damaged during shipment.. who knows.
I only felt that it would be best to bring this to your attention because the forum and its affiliates frown on the practice of first stop bashing. Now, should you have had this problem and then contacted Puresmoker .. Then, they told you to put it on a bumpersticker!!!... Then, yes that is an issue that need to be addressed and disseminated. As a consumer, I am sorry this happened to you and of all the times, during chritmas!!!

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year,
Tom

I have tried rotating the spring but am up for trying whatever, cleaned the threads etc. Could just be a problem with the supplier of the switch. And I am not bashing anyone but am just trying to resolve a problem I am having.

Do you have a multimeter?

Also, those switches can be finicky. Have you tried taking it out and carefully replacing it?

Ok, apoligize as I should have posted all this under the technical issue section. Wrong forum. Got a multimeter out of the garage and yes the switch is bad. It happens. I will get with PureSmoker and have no doubt that I will have this resolved as their customer service is outstanding. I used to build circuit boards and you get the parts from the manufacturer and sometimes they are not quite up to snuff and I do understand this so not a big deal. Will save up the pennies and order a mechanical switch also so I will have it covered next time. Thanks Lotus14 for kicking my brain into gear!

You posted in the right place. At least you know what the problem is. IMO so many people have had switch problems on the Protege, that PS either shouldn't be selling Proteges with them at all, or they should send kits out with a spare!

Unfortunately, there is already a thread about problems with the new mech switches. A lot of people, me included, have high hopes that the mech switch would allow us to put all these switch problems behind us. I really hope that turns out to be the case.

No worries - Steve and Casey are great folks (and tough skinned), they take good/bad/ugly and improve, improve, improve. Just use the site for a ticket and Casey will have you back up and vaping in no time!!!

PS - since you have a meter, you may want to check the solder connections and see if one or both are just cold/bad joints. You may be able to reheat and reconnect just to get going for the near term.

Yep, that is sort of a bummer in the "repair" process - having to ship the whole unit back but understandable.

I, like you, opted to just wait for my tact switches (pre-mechanical times) and do my own repair....but then again, I shorted my own switch out with a staple mod so I figured I should remove my own bullet from my own foot :)

Yes, this forum is full of praises and good reviews of all the different mods and products. Where, however, do consumers notify other consumers of potential defects and issues of these products? Can you suggest the proper place or link where we consumers can do this?

Also, if the purpose of this forum is to promote vendors only, and not to provide real and unbiased reviews of their mods and products, that should be made clear somewhere.

Might wana check this thread and see if this is your fix.. you may of dropped it or over tightened the atty too much once. Doing so may of moved the center pin on the adapter so its not making contact with the atty.

Oh wait.. if you tested the Protege from the adapter and its not getting a reading while pressing the button.. then its the switch.

Why is the atomizer not flush/recess on Protege adapter?

We discuss problems and share solutions here all the time. No trolling or bashing, but if you have a problem, maybe someone can help you.

If not, it's "put in a ticket with Casey!"

There is also a review section of the forum where you can post your thoughts about a supplier:

or review a product:
Ecigarette Reviews - e-cigarette-forum.com • The place for electronic cigarette reviews, news and chat
