Dear Gummy I seem to have re created the flux capacitor...my mod is running an impossible amount of time on 4 14500 400mah lifepo batteries...I have been told its possible however unlikely by an authoritative source but also that I may have overpowered batteries in the wrong wrapper ...whatever shall I do Dr supergummy

Obviously you should wait for Dear Gummy to see you, I would say you should buy a Delorean...

Dear Flux capacitor,
You were wise to wait for professional advice before buying a DeLorean.
Modding a flux capacitor can have draw backs. While you may think that the batteries are lasting longer, more than likely the now 1/2 functioning flux capacitor is merely affecting your perception of time.

So here is my advice:
I'm Moving your diagnosis up to stage 4. Now go patent your flux capacitor mod and sue DeLorean for royalties.

Dear Gummy...

I'm so ashamed... I am deeply afflicted with Modumust fever, and the depths of despair that comes with this horrid affliction is nearly unthinkable.

I no longer mod at all... it doesn't satisfy the urge anymore... I have found that I must create from scratch. As you know, the cost of this phase of the disease is immense... the mini lathe is no longer enough... I purchased a full size machine weighing in at over 700 pounds... required riggers to get it into my basement... and I've made one fully from scratch PV with it so far....

I'm also finding myself with a a degree of "Modumust stage 4 by proxy"... I find that I sympathize with the patent mongers, feeling the need to offer up license fees if I ever sell one of these things... though very few are sold... the customers are not worthy to have my creations... they are MINE! ALL MINE...

I have over 50 PVs from the mini lathe, and I'm making fixtures to mass produce on the larger lathe... but no... I'm not selling them...

I am diseased and distressed. I am sick and loathsome. This disease kills slowly and I can see stage 5 just 'round the bend.

I may be too far gone. My ProVari and Infinity sit there, unused... I cannot use a PV that did not spring from the depths of my mind. It simply will not suffice.

Help me, oh Gummy one... Help me...

Dear so ashamed,

Oh my,,
Your problem may be better studied by the research scientist rather than my humble walk in clinic. But as you know the gov. funding is simply not there at this time. We have applied for the grants but they have been held up due to the BP oil spill. In the mean while I need you to fill out some paperwork so that if needed we can get you into a Modumust Hospice House. (just in case). We need the Name of your insurance carrier and next of kin, In section 3 put "Gummy Bear" as your tools and equipment beneficiary.

Dear Gummy Bear,

I have it bad but not as bad as some of these guys. However, I am obsessed by my grandson's WII numbchuck controller. I don't know if it will survive the weekend or if it will become my latest mod.

I am so ashamed but I just can't get it out of my mind. Am I a bad grampa?

Dear grampa,

Ah your monthly check up.
I see that your still having flare ups,,, but the good news is that you don't seem to have gotten any worse. This is good, As you know Modumust Fever is a progressive affliction.
Stop fighting your urges to mod, that will only make it worse. Feed the addiction.

I'd bet you could work up a trade with the little nipper. Say a new Wii game for his numb chuck controller. Toss in a trip to Chucky Cheese if needed to sweeten the deal.

Dear Gummy,

I want to start on a new mod idea but I need to rip apart an old mod for some of the parts as money is limited and I don't want to wait on shipping. As I started to open up the body and start pulling parts my hands started shaking and I just couldn't do it. Now I haven't used this mod in a couple of weeks and I know it could go on to more usefulness as an organ donor but I am having a hard time making myself dissect it.

This is the first mod I built and it is VV. Is my attachment to it irrational?

What can I do?

Dear looks like an idiot,
That's how it all starts, Go slow. You'll be fine.
And,,,
What do little girls know anyway, (Well she may be right) but I can't say if you do look like an idiot or not but if you do "It's Not The Mod's Fault".

Dear organ donor,
Normally I would say that re-modding a mod is a good thing (we talked about this before) BUT in as much as it was you 1st mod, DON'T DO IT. 1st mods are like 1 girlfriends. There fun to remember how much fun you had way back then but when you look at what you have now,,, Well errr,,,never mind,,,,, that may not be a good way to explain it,,,,, Just keep it for posterity.

Dear Gummy,

I think I've identified some of the experience levels with modumust fever. My question is "how does it relate to the levels/stages of the fever?" Let's use the recent "Dear looks like an idiot" as an example.

Experience level 1 - thinking about it. Hasn't figured out how to make a mod yet... just tinkering.
level 2 - makes a simple nico-stick out of a dvd remote. GF insists it's idiotic.
level 3 - makes a 5 volt mod out of a dvd remote... with working LED
level 4 - makes a vv mod out of a dvd remote, with working LED, and juice bottom feeder.
level 5 - same as level 4, but the dvd remote still works. A truly useful mod. TV, sat/cable box, or universal remote even better. 3 ml juice bottle allows staying on couch all day, if desired.
level 6 - cell phone mod ... working cell phone + PV. The ultimate stealth unit too. GF can't say anything, or she'd have to give up using her cell phone since she'd look idiotic too.
level 7 - mods gf's cell phone without her permission, "cuz it's just sooooo cool". Needed a new GF anyway.

Now... I think there are 3 stages of the fever, so how do you tell?

Dear "7 levels of stage one"

Very good Sir, As we continue our research on this affliction all will benefit. The Gov funding seems to have been delayed yet again. It seems that the funding we requested went to the Nat'l. Pickle Institute instead. Now I suggest you write up your findings and submit them for peer review. Perhaps it will be published in an up coming issue of the "Modumust Monthly"

What stage of the affliction does the following fall into?

The wife started yelling at me because I don't watch TV anymore?????

I guess the DVR is full and it won't record anymore episodes of her soap's. None of my shows have been watched and deleted so they are filling it up. I told her she can't delete my shows because I still want to watch them but I don't know when I will have the time.

Dear Got yelled at,

As for what stage of the affliction your at is hard to say because you didn't say if your wanting build your very own design or you are still happy to mod everything you see. But still sounds like it's just stage 1.

As for the DVR problem, perhaps if you follow Snyder's lead and mod the DVR's remote you could have your cake and eat it too.

Dear Gummy My flux capacitor has gotten too powerful...I had a visit from a man in a black suit this morning...asking me to cease and desist any and all experiments in temporal displacement...he brought out a shiny little tube and was fiddling with it when I grabbed it to mod it......
I told him to go jump in a lake and he left...
I may be in trouble...

Dear Gummy:

I have a unique strain of modmust fever. I devote too much time and energy to thinking about and reading about modding, but I have yet to attempt to build or construct a mod of any kind, excepting a few simple CE2 tanks.

I think I have a natural immunity that prevents the fever from advancing any further. I believe it has something to do with the fact that I struggle with the internal dynamics of a ziploc sandwich bag when trying to insert and seal a PBJ for my daughter's bagged lunch. And don't even ask me what happens if she requests chips and/or a pickle.

So yeah... I'm pretty much a quadruple amputee who wants to take up Yoga.

Dear ziploc sandwich bag,

Well you may be just the one we have been looking for. Not that any of us really want to find a cure mind you but, A vaccine would be nice for those who's family just can't/won't support their affliction.

If you would volunteer yourself up for science I think we should send you over to our research team. As soon as the Gov. funding is approved of course.

Or you could just be a "Modder Wannabe".
We will know for sure with some blood tests and a few ink blot tests.
