so i'm lazy, have a nifty mod designed that i am now changing the design on to make it something totally unique.

I should have built something to replace my fried epower, but I bought two mods off of the classifieds instead. I tell myself it is to hold me over until i make something, but i fear i am starting a collection. Should i be worried that i will spend too much money on a GG even though i don't particularly like them? Well, should i be worried about hording mods just because they were a "good" deal?

Help me doc.

Is it wrong to pay big $$$ to a machinist to make me a 3X18650 battery holder similar to the one that comes in the 9 LED flashlights? I just stopped by my buddies computer shop and got a bunch of laptop batteries that still hold a good charge. I didn't even have to pay for them, so now I have like 2 dozen 18650's and only a couple of NoEgo's to put them all in.

I could charge up all of my batteries and I would be able to go 2 months without power...

Amen to that! Going from ~3.6v to ~4.8v made a world of difference. Having said that, I should point out that, unlike most Stage 2 patients, I have absolutely no desire to muck around with VV; I'm happy sticking with a single voltage.

Hi Ham .. just an observation here .. unless you want to carry around a big clunky box full of ni-cads, the only way to get 4.8v is with a VV. They make 3.3, 5, etc regs but 4.8? Not to my knowledge. Just cause you make a VV doesn't mean that you need to constantly change voltages (this is a common misconception). The whole idea is so you can fine-tune it to your own "sweet spot". Then you never need to touch the adjustment (until you want to try out some new atty or carto, that is). IMHO

Ya, and run the microwave too, in case of power failure LOL .. don't forget though, they're unprotected 18650's (I have some myself) so be sure your mod is vented AWAY from your face. Also be sure to recharge them before you think you need to, don't want any one of the cells to go critical.

Wish I had a use for recycled laptop batts.
