Death of the 1.8 coil?

I'm feeling pretty vape depressed lately, and it seems like the era of the 1.8 coil is coming to an end. I could use some tootle-puffer advice.

I've been battling my Triton 1.8 coils and finally got confirmation from Aspire that they are only meant for high VG juices and of course nearly all of my juices are 50/50.

Last week I picked up a Silo Beast thinking that they would fit in it; no luck. I asked beyondvape if they had plans to make a 1.8 coil for The Beast and they said no. Bummer. The 1.2 is growing on my slowly, but just not the same.

I was really hoping to get out of the nautilus BVC setup, since I've had similar problems ever since they changed them a few months back to the new cotton. Other companies seem to be only focused on Sub Ohm coils, and I'm not sure where to go from here.

Anyone else seeing the trend and getting frustrated? I don't follow Kanger much, do they have a good 1.8 setup? I'm off to research, but it feels like we're being forced into Sub Ohming, and I just don't enjoy it. I'm whining a bit I realize.

i know there is a 1.5 ohm vertical made for the STM v2, that seems designed for lower vg juice (in 50/50 range)

I like the aerotank bether than the nautilus...they offer all kinds of resistance heads. and they're cheaper too!

I've been vaping higher VG juices in all four of my nautilus tanks for quite some time with no problems whatsoever.

I got frustrated with coil heads within a couple of weeks of use. I am totally rta now and build any ohm coil I like. I was just today thinking of building a couple of 1.8 ohm coils for old times' sake.

One of my work friends swears by the aspire vivi nova-s with the bvc coils. They are available in 1.8

Tanks & coils are inexpensive (~$10). Two different Kanthal coils: 1.5Ω (8-20 watts) & 1.2Ω (8-30 watts). Both are dual coils.

I have not tried them but am looking at these for an inexpensive tank to run on my iStick 20 watt.

I feel the same way but over the use of cotton only, as I can't use cotton and all the new tanks coming out only use cotton they restrict me to rba's or disposable attys (which are getting harder to find).

I'll second Susan's advice - the GS Air series of tanks are really excellent. I think they are far superior to the Nautilus tanks in flavor. And they are really inexpensive. They are about $10 and you can get a pack of coils for the same amount. Plus, a lot of us are rebuilding those coils. The 1.5 ohm coil actually uses silica wicks, and surprisingly they have great taste. They also have 1.2 ohm cotton coils, and even a coil for temp control mods. There is a reason there is a 600+ page thread on this tank - just about everyone who tries them loves them.

Ya good point. I actually do have the GS Air M now that I think about it. It is solid, and I guess I don't really have a good reason why I don't use it anymore. I usually prefer larger juice capacity but I can get over that.

I somehow assumed newer is better. But I might just have to go back to that. For the price you really can't beat em.

RTA's are designed for higher performance.
It takes lower resistance coils - heavier wire in less space - to get them running right. Air flow is designed in many for both lung and Mtl users.

A person prefering a decent 1/7ohm Vape, MTL, using 50/50 e-liquid would find an F-16 Boge Catro Tank a good possibility. Holds about 5ml, used XL cartos, can last over a week per carto or longer with proper e-liquids, slightly restrictive MTL air flow.

If you felt like making your own coils, much cheaper, a Kayfun works excellent in the 1.3-1.7ohm range.

I use the Nautilus BVC with 50/50 and 80VG+ and only had to turn up the volts a few times to clear a bit of gurgling

The GS AIR M is the largest-capacity Air. The new kid on the block, the GS Tank, is only 3 ml but 22 mm in diameter.

They are all lovely.

If you like Kanger's clearos, the Aerotanks are nice. The Emow is good too. They use dual-coils heads, but some people use single coils in them--successfully. If you like Kanger's single coils, get a ProTank 2 and add an AFC base. Any of the three versions below will work:

Weird.
I had nothing but problems with the older style nautilus coils and just stuck with the Kanger stuff. But since they've switched to cotton I haven't had a single issue and the kanger stuff has been demoted to backup duty.
Kanger also has new BVC for the aerotank lineup that uses cotton. And I must say I'm a big fan of that. They come in all kinds of resistances as well.

That's the exact set-up my friend uses the vivi nova-s on Susan Aspire Vivi Nova-S Glass and Stainless Tank - MyFreedomSmokes comes with a bdc coil but since there not offered anymore you order bvc for it

Love my Aerotank. Resistances all over the board available. I will say that I didn't like the .8 ohm coil as well as the 1.8 ohm coil on my new cool fire iv. I'm going to order some 1.2 and see how I like those.

Sounds like you are vaping on a fixedvoltage battery.

If you use a variable voltage battery you could adjust your voltage for the different coil.
