Death of the 1.8 coil?

I solved the problem of finding 1.8 ohm coils. All of my various toppers use protank/evod coils. I bought several packs of 50each prewound 4 wick 1.8 coils from fasttech and just rebuild my coil heads as needed.

I do agree with those that are recommending the GS-AIR. That is the only topper I use and enjoy that doesn't use the protank coils but at 2 bucks each I just buy coils for mine. haven't researched rebuilding them yet.

And that is why I mostly use the toppers that I can rebuild. Cost me a whole .08 cents each

Thank you Linda. Now that I know how to get that top cap off rebuilding will be a breeze and the 7 heads I have now should last me indefinitely.

Looking down at my 1.8 coil looks like its alive and kicking. When it dies I just wrap a new one. The only time it may die is if I ever wrap a nickel coil for my tc device and like it.

Thank you Linda. Now that I know how to get that top cap off rebuilding will be a breeze and the 7 heads I have now should last me indefinitely.

I have now rebuilt the few GS-Air and aspire heads I had put back I will need to pay the price for one more box of GS-AIR heads (a dozen of them should be enough) but a few cents compared to 2 bucks each is a win. I build them single coil @1.8 ohm but that works perfect for me.

Congratulations, Mattie! Most of us build them with a single coil. I think they actually taste even better, especially with rayon or cotton rather than silica.

I recomend the Kanger Aerotank and Genitank series tanks (Aerotanks and genitanks are the same things except the Aerotanks are made of stainless steel while the genitanks are made of chromed brass and therefore significantly cheaper than aerotanks).

For replacement coils, I would suggest the new 1.5 or 1.8 ohm VOCC coils from Kanger as opposed to the regular aerotank coils that have silica wicks. The VOCC wicks are organic cotton and have FAR better flavor than the nautilus coils.

Yes, I know the nauti coils have organic cotton wicks and I LOVED the flavor they produced up until I tried the VOCC coils. Easily 10 times the flavor IMHO. The VOCC coils and the subtank mini are the only thing Kanger has ever managed to put out that was worth a anything. BUt they need to work on their QC bigtime.

Yeah, it doesn't seem like you can get a 1.8 prebuilt coil for any of sub ohm devices. I just make my own on the lemo 2 now and it's fairly simple. The guy who works at the vape shop I buy from said I wasn't getting the most of the tank and it wasn't meant for coils above 1.0, but sod it and I thought and went ahead anyway. It's working pretty good so far. Decent flavour.

I'm feeling pretty vape depressed lately, and it seems like the era of the 1.8 coil is coming to an end. I could use some tootle-puffer advice.

I've been battling my Triton 1.8 coils and finally got confirmation from Aspire that they are only meant for high VG juices and of course nearly all of my juices are 50/50.

Last week I picked up a Silo Beast thinking that they would fit in it; no luck. I asked beyondvape if they had plans to make a 1.8 coil for The Beast and they said no. Bummer. The 1.2 is growing on my slowly, but just not the same.

I was really hoping to get out of the Nautilus BVC setup, since I've had similar problems ever since they changed them a few months back to the new cotton. Other companies seem to be only focused on Sub Ohm coils, and I'm not sure where to go from here.

Anyone else seeing the trend and getting frustrated? I don't follow Kanger much, do they have a good 1.8 setup? I'm off to research, but it feels like we're being forced into Sub Ohming, and I just don't enjoy it. I'm whining a bit I realize.

Don't be to quick to disregard the Nautilus coils, have a look at the Kabuki tank, not cheap but it makes those BVC coils shine. I think you would be shocked, well I know you would be. I have been on both ends of vaping, from tootle puffing to TFV4 cloud blowing, I don't care if I get high rated opinions because most haven't tried one, you always get, oh, it's so expensive, it just uses the old Nautilus coils, why would I get one of these, its so out dated ect ect, they have no idea what they are talking about. Let me tell you, I have vaped a massive range of tanks and the Kabuki has the best flavor out of all I have tried, even the sub ohm tanks, even the wife's rebuildables, everything.

I know the feeling...seems like every tank that is coming out is sub ohm which I do not like. I got a sub tank nano and rebuilt the heads to 1.8 ohm but the dang tank is so airy even at one hole. So now I am just happy with my Kayfuns and my Lemo 2...I also like to rebuild my Protank 2s as well!

One of my work friends swears by the aspire vivi nova-s with the bvc coils. They are available in 1.8

I believe they actually come stock at 1.6 ohm if I remember correctly but the 1.8 BVC coils are readily available. The same coil will fit the Aspire ETS, K1, and the S-Body tank.

I'm assuming you need something with the 510 thread since you were using the naultilus. Kanger has a few options. The Kanger Aerotank V2 comes stock with the updated 1.8 coil. This is probably your best choice. Air Flow Control, Stainless Steel construction. 2.5 ml capacity, 510 thread. Want a simple tank, the Kanger Evod Mega. updated 1.8 ohms, 2.5ml capacity, 510 thread. Kanger Genitank (Regular), updated 1.8 ohm coil, 2.4ml capacity. There is also a Kanger Genitank Mega with 1.8 ohm coil......

Personally I think the Aspire K1 is under rated. Uses the same coils as the 'Maxi' which is also under rated (IMHO).
The coils for these are very inexpensive - even less if you don't mind getting Chinese knock-offs (~$1ea). At 1.8ohms I often think they perform better than their Nautilus series. The only 'gotcha' is the dismal size of the tank - 1.8ml or less.

I keep a K1 mounted on my first mod (a eGo VV type model) sitting on my night stand. Its always good for a few late night puffs when I need some.

I'm like you, Dry. The prevalence of the sub-ohm tank is mind-blowing. I just ordered an Ego-One Mega with the 1 ohm head. Hoping that gets me there. The GS M is ok for me but those fill holes are so dang thin that every time I refill I loose 4 or 5 drops in the sink. So not only do I have to fill over the sink but I lose juice every time. Surprised I seem to be the only one with this complaint.

I also seem to be the only guy who finds that mouth to lung gives me WAY better flavor than lung hits. I have a sub-tank mini that want to love, and try it every few weeks or so, but I get NO flavor out of that tank. It's weird.
