Im seriously having second thoughts about what i have gotten myself into. It seems that this is a big time money pit for me and im just getting started. So much research done and to do, so many reviews watched and to watch, so much equipment to buy and maintain, cant even take them out into the rain. I know its better for my health but ends up being more expensive than roll your own for me so I need a good reason other than my health why to remain a vaper. Please someone, help me.

Sorry you are having a hard time. Maybe start weaning your self off nicotine. I spend about $40 bucks a month (when wally has my stuff) but doubt you'd be happy after having the good things. Please don't give up if you end up smoking please keep trying to quit. It is hard but ends up costing more than even the most exspensive vaping things in the long run. Just one doctor office visit if you don't have insurance is like $150 bucks. That is a small one just to hear you don't have insurance tests are exspensive go home and deal with it. I wish you the best of luck and hope things pan out for you.

I think your health is a great reason, personally. I have struggled in the past with finding equipment that works for me. It doesn't have to be an 80 dollar mod. If yours is just showing signs of wear but still works, it's okay! Heck, I painted an ego battery that was looking beat up after I dropped it repeatedly. From my own past experience, smoking a cigarette in the rain is tough work! When I go outside on a vape break and it's raining, I hold an umbrella down close to my head to protect my pv. Granted, I do use ego batteries. I wouldn't want to ruin one with rain but it's not quite as sad as ruining your mod. Grab something cheaper that still works well for your on the go/ rainy weather pv? You can do this if you want to!!!! You know that you can wash those cartos and reuse them, yeah? I have a friend who gets insane mileage out of her cartos by cleaning them, drying them well and reusing. Having a friend close by to encourage me and to share this with does help me a lot. Oh that's it, get a buddy into vaping with you! I hope all goes well for you.

I love the vivi nova. It's super easy to clean and I like that I can replace parts on it! Good idea. I also use stardusts. Some of my liquids taste better with them and I find them easy to clean too.

Have you used the vivi nova with it? You really don't need anything fancy just a couple twists or spinners and juice. I have cut my costs way down. I think a lot of people go overboard with the mods. I have my provari now and am done spending on that type equip. I personally don't find cartos cost effective.

I feel you pain.. I do, but the problem isn't the money or time invested or to invest it's simply your ability to let go.

Your obviously one who puts great regard into the "value" of something. From your statement about cost of RYO to the notice of wear on your 80$ mod. That's not wear, that's use. Use of something that has kept you from smoking. Use of something that is letting your body repair itself after years of abuse. Don't think of it as $10 loss from a dent or ding on an 80$ mod, think of it as a journey.

I've been there recently myself, same place. Before you smoked you could also say 'I've never smoked'. It was sort of an accomplishment. It was a boundary that you never crossed, until you did. Now you've decided to quit, vape and get back over that boundary but you can't; you never can go back to being that person who 'never smoked'. It's hard to grasp and causes the mind, at least mine, to say 'what next?', 'where do I go from here'.

It's a part of addiction. You have to make new boundaries, new life events. After a day, a week, a month, 6 months, a year. All something you've never done for quite awhile. 'I've not smoked for 2 weeks'; a massive accomplishment. Take them in stride, try not to look back and feel it would just be easier going back; it isn't because if you do one day you'll start to think of what could have been had you not gone back. You'll feel the same way as you did this day and have regret you didn't keep 'not smoking' longer..

Today I consider you victorious. You've gone and done something others have not been able to do. Your by no means special to most, but to the most important person in your life, you have succeeded and will continue to succeed.

Vape on my friend and never look back..

Thanks for the kind words you guys, im gonna keep trying, i feel like im going through withdraws big time. Restless one minute, yawning the next. Its just ridiculous, i wake up at random times when im sleeping wanting a cig and then not being able to have one keeps me awake and I deal with the same cycle all over again. Its tough on me.

Good.. again don't think of it as money wasted. Anything that gets you by, while getting your healthier and eventually saving money (you really do unless you go into "collecting" mode) is money well spent in my book.

It may take some time and many including myself are still in that mode of finding what works. I spent countless hundreds on patches, cheap e-cigs and even hypnotherapy without success. Vaping, day 1, has had me off traditional tobacco totally. I wake each morning to my wife and 2 boys and hear their words of encouragement and think of the money I'm spending now, which may seem odd at times, as an insurance policy on me living a longer life. When my wife snuggles up tight at night (not tonight however, lol) and I don't stink, wheeze or have no energy to talk or even more I feel wonderful. Hearing her tell me how proud she is of me and that she loves the fact that I'll be around a lot longer to love near brings a tear to my eye.

It's so much more about moving forward, for those reasons, then ever thinking about going back.

You'll do it, I have faith.

You must be young and haven't experienced the health problems yet. I wish there would have been something like this to help me quit about 20 or 30 years ago and I wouldn't have COPD now. I don't know the type of mod you got but get a Vision Vivi Nova tank to go with it and a couple of spare coil heads. It will last you for months. If you are having problems with the mod pick up a Spinner to back it up.
You really need to stick with it because nothing good will come from smoking.

If you are finding yourself craving a cigarette, I suspect you need more nicotine. I was a 3 pack per day smoker who had smoked for 30+ years when I started vaping. I started at 24 mg, and overnight, I was smoking half of what I'd smoked before. Before long, I was down to 10 cigs a day or so - but I couldn't get rid of those. After eating, in particular, I'd crave cigs.

At some point, someone told me to get some 30mg juice, and I did. The day I got that juice, I quit smoking. It was easy after that. And I didn't even use the 30mg juice all the time - I just used it via dripping after meals. I still have some of that 30mg juice, because it didn't take long before I could use the 24 all day, including after meals.

Now, a little over a year later, I've not only gotten off the cigs, I've gradually cut my nic down. For the past few days, I've been vaping 0 nic juice. I've bought several mods, ego-twist batteries, various tanks and cartomizers and atomizers, I still have a bunch of unused juice, batteries, chargers, etc. But I've kept close track of what I've spent on vaping, and it's less than half of what I would have spent on cigs if I had kept smoking 3 packs a day like I did before.

I'm healthier. I'm very close to being free of even a nicotine addiction. I've saved a lot of money. I don't smell like a smoker, and I can vape in a lot of places I wouldn't be allowed to smoke.

You need to keep in mind that the cost you're seeing isn't an ongoing cost. When you first start, you have to buy a bunch of "stuff" that you won't need to buy on a regular basis. Batteries last more than a week or two, and chargers tend to last even longer. The expense tends to be much higher at the beginning than it will be after you've been vaping a few months.

It took me a few mods and a lot of patience to finally like vaping. Forget about the money situation... EVERYTHING will cost you $ in the long run. If your health doesn't strike up an instant "I gotta stick with the vaping" thought then how about the people around you that love you and care about you? kids, grand kids, brothers, sisters, Mother or Father. Even your closest friends.... There's always someone out there who keeps me thinking positive.

My son is my inspiration. Once my wife got pregnant I quit. Well I should say I slipped a few times but after about a month or so I was done. Still haven't smoked and if I ever get a craving I think about how great I've done and how I can tell my son that I quit stinkies because of him. I also look at PV stuff like tools. Some suck! I don't care how many other people swear by it, It just might not fit my personal needs.

I tried cartos, bottom feeders, certain drip tips etc. but I know what I like now and that's what I stick with. LR atties are the only thing that do it for me @ 1.5 oHms. I don't know what "tools" you've used but I'm sure you'll find it soon. I really do believe that vaping can work for anyone who wants to stay off ciggs. Good luck and STAY POSITIVE! :D

Sounds like you're getting overwhelmed with all the info here. I was like that as well when I first came here. Spent my share of things I couldn't really care for.

The investments I can say was worth the money for me was (like others have said) the Vivi Nova 2.5 from gotvapes.com. Careful, I bought a second without knowing there are clones of them thinking I could share heads. So back to gotvapes when I have the money to get another. Get yourself a few spare heads as well. They are cheap and last pretty long depending on juices you use. Darker the more gunked up they get. Don't toss your spent heads in case you ever decide to rebuild them. I haven't rebuilt myself since I do not have any silica yet but looks easy.

Best part is you see people using Vivi Nova's on Ego's to Provari's. From there are you have a good tank system you can slowly learn about the others if you decide. They are even pocket friendly, I use mine daily while I'm at work or out and about.

Don't give up and goodluck!

Why would you vape in the rain? I know I wouldnt have smoked in the rain without an umbrella or covered area. I have had one rouge drip fall on a cigarette from a rooftop hours after it rained ruin a whole smoke. On a PV you would just wipe it off and vape on. Point is, you cant bring cigs out in the rain either, but you can vape indoors most places if you ask nicely. Maybe i sniped that one gripe but quit watching reviews and shopping, its a profitable industry looking for new people to get sucked into the market hype.

There is so much awesome stuff and a deep hobby to get into if you can afford it or want it, but it is not neccisary to get off analogs. You dont need a 200$ mod and 200$ tank to be happy with vaping. What you DO need is the will to not smoke. I dunno what you spent 80 dollars on, a starter kit of some kind? Maybe you can make it more satisfying if you let us know whats not scratching your itch, besides money.

Among the first things I tell newbies is that vaping is NOT likely to be less expensive then smoking for their first few months unless they had really high smoking expenses or get really lucky in their choices which shouldnt be expected. We are all different and what is great about vaping is that we have choices to find what works for each of us and we are not stuck using something that worked for someone else but doesn't work well for us as individuals. It DOES cost money to get started and to find the battery holder, juice delivery system and juice that works best for each of us. After a few months its entirely up to them if they choose to continue to spend a lot of money each month trying lots of new toys or juices or choose to simply maintain what they've found that works. If you are a roll your own person it may never be less expensive that what you were spending while you were smoking because your cost were already extremely low. I dont suggest it for newbies but mixing your juice can eventually be a big money saver over purchasing juice from venders. Again, I dont suggest them for newbies but Rebuildable Attys can also mean a huge saving over time.

Vaping is more work then smoking was. But, vaping isn't smoking. Its a very different experience then smoking. :) One that doesn't make you and everything around you stink. You are not inhaling all the chemicals that are part of cigarettes. You are not burning tobacco so you are free of the carcinogenics from burning that tobacco. Its nice to have good smelling breath vs that nasty ashtray breath all the time. The jury is still out on exactly how healthy vaping is for us BUT it IS healthier then smoking was and I'm willing to bet that someday long term studies will show it to be a LOT healthier then cigarettes. . As far as vaping in the rain goes, lol, sure you can vape in the rain if ya want. I wouldnt suggest seeing exactly how wet I can get my mod but some raindrops arent going to hurt it either. As I remember it, smoking in the rain meant sure death to that cigarette unless you smoked it fast. Wet cigarettes don't burn terribly well :glare:

Your health is the most important reason for replacing vaping for smoking. Some people will continue to vape forever, while others will over time reduce their nic intake and eventually give up vaping too. Vaping gives you choices that smoking will never give you.

Dont know what kind of mod you purchased but sign of wear doesnt have to mean wont work for much longer without knowing more information. I personally would never purchase any mod without it having a minimum of 3 months warranty on it. Hope yours does if it really is ready to fail on you. I do hope you have a backup because no one should ever rely on only one mod or ecig. Stuff happens, its the nature of our vaping toys and one always needs to be prepared for something to go wrong unfortunately. Cartos are disposable. One carto for every two days is IMO less then what they should be lasting you, BUT without more information its hard to tell if that's a problem with your cartos themselves or simply because of the way you've been using them.

20 days is really not a long time for someone to have been vaping. Some people need a longer timeframe to successfully transition from smoking to vaping then other people do. You may need to adjust your nic level. Remember we are all different and what works best for one person will be different for another person. Glad to hear you want to continue to try. Thats good :)

Depression, feeling at a loss, are side-effects of quitting smoking. Most of us who take up vaping bypass that, as fooling with our gear and trying new flavours take the place of fooling with cigarettes, lighters and so on, and the nicotine in the vapour is enough to make up for no more tobacco.

It's not enough for everyone, though, and if upping your nic level doesn't help, you may want to consider a juice with WTA, as suggested above.

Also, if you want a cigarette, have a cigarette. This isn't Tobacco Anonymous, after all, and you're not on a schedule. It is entirely up to you how much you vape and how much you smoke. ECF is here to help you with the vaping, not to beat you up about the smoking. Or so it seems to me.
