I spent about $450 a month on cigarettes...that's two very nice mods a month plus vaping supplies. I haven't felt guilty buying anything yet...lol.

Good lord man, what were you smoking? $450 a month? $15 a day? Did you buy one at a time at convenience stores, 2 times a day? And I thought I was wasting money on cigarettes!
You shouldn't feel guilty buying whole cheesecakes just to throw at the homeless for fun at this point. Not very relevant, but...wow. I am impressed.

I was thinking about this last night, going over funds in my head. If I figured in only cigarettes, then no, I'd be in the hole savings wise. But when I figure in everything else, I'm on the plus side.
You see...I didn't like smoking and was actually embarrassed to go buy cigs and just cigs. I did it anyway but mostly I'd buy other things as well. A bottle of soda and/or a cappuccino and usually a few lottery tickets. I must have spent on average $15-$20 a day doing that. And that's where my savings started to add up. I don't buy that crap anymore, I go to the ATM much, much less, so when I figure that in as well, I'm slightly ahead of the game.

You have a good point here, I wouldn't just buy a pack of cigs, I would also get a beverage and some snacks or something, now I no longer do that, I would spend at least 20$ a day.

And let's not forget the gas used to get there and back!

As of right now, I am WAY over spending; and I have no problem with it. I use a Green Smoke cig-a-like set up, by far not the most economical way to go. Right now I have 50 prefilled cartos in different flavors in zip-lock bags, another 20 on the way. I'm saving all used cartos in case I get into refilling. Each carto lasts me about 1.5 days.

It's all good. Yesterday I sat outside with a bunch of smokers and didn't even feel the desire to bum an analog. One guy asked me if I wanted "a real one", without hesitation I responded, "No thanks, I'm good." and held up my batt.

Yes, as of right now I'm overspending, but I can't argue with the results. 30 days today without a single analog !

I bought pretty much whatever I wanted for my first 2-1/2 years of vaping :D Didn't save a penny. Loved every minute of it  Now its time to use that vaping stash I own and limit my spending to $5 a week. If I'd continued to smoke all this time I'd have nothing to show for it except a HUGE pile of butts :grr: But instead I have a huge pile of vaping toys to keep me happy for a LONG time to come

In my first 100 days of vaping, I spent way more than I should have trying to find my niche, and if I have to, I can still use those supplies in a pinch.

The funny thing is, I found that I like RBAs and my own DIY liquids much better than anything else, so from here on out my costs are a whopping $0.20 a day, and that includes mesh and wire. I'm kind of amazed that I can vape for a month on less than what I spent in a day on cigarettes.

I'll probably use the money I'm saving and get some nicer rebuildables eventually, but right now, the cheap ones are working just wonderfully.

I had to go by my old tobacco store the other day cause he asked my mother where I was at. He was afraid I was going someplace else! LOL He has been selling the blu's but I demonstrated with my vamo and tank and was showing him all the different things that is associated with it and even let him try it. I told him he oughta devote a corner to just vaping.

I even offered to work in the afternoons as a consultant and he could pay me in vaping supplies! LOL

I used to spend ~$15 a day on cigarettes. About a pack and a half. I'm saving an extraordinary amount of money by not smoking. I try not to "waste" my money on unnecessary vape gear these days, but I have no problem spending more money initially to save in the long run. Just my REO and accompanying rba have saved me from having to buy cartos anymore. They're not expensive but when you factor in frequent shipping it adds up.

I think you can absolutely go overboard, but I think many people don't realize how much you were spending on analogs to start with. I didn't used to think anything at all of going to the gas station and handing over $10 twice a day. When you're actually sitting at home ordering stuff online it SEEMS like a larger amount.. It always the little frequent purchases that add up.

My wife and I are older and on a fixed income. For the last 18 months we've rented a room in a friend's home, and wanted sooo badly to get a place of our own. Going over our expenses, one figure shouted out from the page: we were spending $3,200 a year on cigarettes!!!! Unacceptable!!!! We quite buying cigs. I started chewing the gum, and my wife started flogging the cheapie cigalike we got last year and ended up stashing in a drawer.

Then we discovered vaping. We've only been at it a month. We've saved around $250 on cigarettes and spent around $200 on vaping, so we're already in the black. We have four eGo's with T2s or CE7s, and a Joye 510, plus some cartos and assorted juices. We know there'll be ongoing expense and we watch what we spend. So far I've had to throw out a couple cartos that I put some godawful juice in, and I've rebuilt one of our T2s.

We also know that as time goes on, we will have far, far more money in our pocket. In fact, we've already been able to scrape together a deposit on a new place of our own, and next week we'll be moving to a nice doublewide with a lawn, room for a garden and no nosy, live-in landlady! Life is good! So yeah, the financial benefits are immediate and significant. If you can afford to be an equipment junkie, God bless you. There's stuff I'd like to try and mods I'd like to buy, but it'll come in time. Right now we are very, very happy with what vaping has done for us. The next step is to get into DIY liquids and RBAs, and the costs will come down even further.

No kidding! We figured our initial savings would be $2,500 - $3,000 a year. That's probably a little high, but only a little. But with DIY and RBAs it might actually be more! And as always you have to figure future medical expenses as a savings. Whether it's vaping, organic food or going to the gym, the expense involved is offset by doctor's visits. My health is great but my wife is disabled. Her expenses run into the hundreds every month. She already feels better, sleeps better and has less pain overall. How much of that is directly attributable to vaping - hard to say, but does it matter?

Hey, as long as theres improvement theres no reason to keep at whatever seems to be working, right?

People can spend there money how they like and I'd say most of the time they are saving at least a little money. There are some hoarders out there though...I don't think that type of behavior is healthy and it is enabled by internet communities like this one. We all have addictive personalities that can sometimes go out of control.

I have had my fair share of juice buying benders though I would say a person doesn't need 3 caravelas, seven ihybrids, twenty other mods, and thousands of $ of juice and accessories....but I guess they are kind of like the people who have a collection of Gibson Les Pauls, 10 cars, or a marina of boats. I'm VERY jealous of "disposable income." If I had it, I'd proly go crazy spending money on mods too.

I didn't start vaping to save money. I started because it was a healthier alternative to smoking. Otherwise I didn't think I'd ever stop. I smoked a carton of Newport menthols a week which adds up to about $50 a week here. I'm not actually saving money yet although I'm sure I will in the future. But in these first couple of months I've been figuring out what I like & don't like as well as experimenting with different juice vendors. Right now it doesn't bother me that I'm not saving. I'm happier about the fact that I'm not smoking!

the way im figuring it a carto lasts 8 days and they cost around 2 bucks. add in some liquid its still under a dollar.

im on my orginal set up with a fixed voltage vaporizer with a carto tank and it works, so im not messing with it.

for me its not a hobby but just a way to keep off the smokes.

Thats interesting, most people don't seem to have that approach. Once they start vaping you need the next best thing once you graduate to the higher form of technology until you have a provari or an evic and 40 mods and make your own juice.

But I guess that just makes you ahead of the game then.

I think you have it reversed. Most people that try or even continue to vape for extended periods of time are never going to drop hundreds upon hundreds on elaborate setups. Enthusiasts will, enthusiasts will also seek out a message board.

Ahh yes, but you see, the best place to get info on e cigs is here. Thats why so many come. This is the only forum I'm a part of, even.
