Webinar: 20 Years Later – Returning to FDA to Regulate tobacco

You may know that Mitch Zeller became the Center for tobacco Products’
Director in March 2013. What you may not know is that he has been working on FDA
issues for 30 years! Consider this your invitation to learn even more about
CTP’s new director, via a special FDA Basics webinar on December 11,
2013.

In the webinar, you will learn more about Director Zeller’s
background and hear his thoughts on key opportunities for FDA to help reduce the
burden of tobacco through product regulation. The webinar will be moderated by
CTP’s Director of Health Communication and Education, Kathy Crosby, and will
allow for questions and answers at the end of the presentation.

The suggestion has been made that we don't bombard the FDA with half a million different questions. If they get many copies of the same question, it might have a better chance of being considered and answered. The one that we would like to see answered is this:

@FDATobacco #AskDirectorZeller When will there be genuine consumer representation in the CTP process? Nothing about us without us!

What gets me is FDA's insistence on "population levels" vs. individuals. So ecigs have to prove they save the life of a population before they'll be accepted. How do you save the life of a population. A population is made up of *individuals*!

I suspect I'll need to run the transcript of zeller's presentation through the "gobbledygook" translator to understand his thinking.

He said something about premium cigars. I don't remember exactly how he phrased it but it gave the impression that they aren't worried about cigars at $8 a pop (too expensive for chillren, I guess).

Made me think of the line in Titanic -

"Now they will retreat into a cloud of smoke and congratulate each other on being masters of the universe. "
Rose DeWitt Bukater (Character) - Quotes

I wonder if I should mention in my next set of comments to them that my APV cost me $200.
