Pretty pricy at around $16 a pop on eBay, but I had a $10 off coupon for the site so it only came around to $24 or so. Curious to see how these puppies perform, seller seemed to have a pretty good amount of rep and was even willing to answer some questions I had about the spot weld removal process! Lets see how good the legendary 20700A really is..

I see that instead of offering more compact and lighter devices, they become bigger and heavier. Soon it will be necessary with some armour pockets

I think, I'll stick to the 1850's and wait for something leighter.

It's always a gamble buying batteries off eBay. No way you can be sure they're authentic.

Care to share the info he gave you?
Something about carefully removing the metal that was spot welded to the battery, then using a magnifying lens to make sure he gets it as perfect as possible, he grinds out the solder marks ONLY until it's smooth and flat, and no more than that. Apparently some other people who were selling these batteries were grinding the hell out of the positive and negative connections to the point where there's 0 evidence of the solder marks, which is both unneccesary and dangerous because you'll remove too much anti-corrosion plating and most likely weaken the metal too much to the point where it will break. Anyways i'm somewhat sceptical, but worst case my regulated mod doesn't fire it or they underperform and i'm out $20. It seems like he knows what he's doing though, and has sold a lot of them and I haven't seen a single negative review or anything. Also have seen people on reddit buy some from him and said they were fine. So here's hoping, I suppose!

Edit: Forgot to mention that its normally just the positive connection that needs smoothing out, apparently the spot welds aren't usually as bad on the bottom of the battery and don't always need smoothing!

A spot weld on a battery is a good indication that the cell was once part of a spot welded battery pack. Tread wisely!

You can buy guaranteed genuine new batteries from imrbatteries.com, probably for much less money.

Well yeah, it's a a guarantee they were harvested. And it's basically the only way to get 20700A's right now, they aren't in stock anywhere.

Something about carefully removing the metal that was spot welded to the battery,

Those were most likely removed from a power pack for a cordless drill?
Good chance they are not fakes :)
Your very correct in saying they aren't available any were!
There are as rare as Hens Teeth & have been for several months now! :)
Thats why we are seeing people tearing apart these power packs to harvest them :)
