Oh I so wish I could CES, that would be a blast to hang out with everyone but...I already made promises to my Lurking girls that I would be there and I so wanna see all of them too

Yes, driving across Texas does suck, for sure! I drove from here (Dallas area) to Orlando back in 1994 to visit family & friends (& go to Disney & Universal). Took my little sis w/me, and we were plum-tuckered by the time we got to Pensacola & stopped & slept a few hours, then continued to Kissimmee where my cousin lived. Took way too long, not worth it!

I've driven from B'ham to phoenix, and from phoenix to miami. Moving both times.
ON the first trip, halfway across texas, the dog refused to get back in the car. he was all "aren't we there yet? puhleeese? "
we did stop in pennsacola for a couple of nights....
the ala to phoenix trip was worse...we made it in one day- with a two hour nap in a new mexico rest stop

Pensacola is a very nice place to rest from long texas drives....just think, though, a few more hours and you could be in tampa

The part from Pensacola to Kissimmee was getting pretty late, and only on 2-3 hours sleep, so it's a little fuzzy!
