I think it's sort of like getting a shot at the doctor's office. The anticipation is always so much worse than the actual pain.
In the case of all those dogs, I think they're anticipating the swat they know they're going to get when they go by.

Ah, sorry JJ! I wasn't online yesterday... been trapped in the house for a couple days, so did some Christmas shopping most of the day (online), and got off the computer to curl up and watch movies last night.
