HAHA.....so thats what happens with age? :p

I used to be a caffeine addict... drinking cup after cup after cup...

But then Trav turned me on to a new mug...

Now I only have 1 cup a day.

Amazon.com: Bubba Keg 70 Oz Insulated Mug Black: Kitchen & Dining

See and people wonder why I always have a fresh 2liter of MT. Dew at my desk or in my desk fridge.......IT ONLY COUNTS AS 1!!!!!!!!

And you weren't sharing Trav

Trav didn't get the memo that sharing is caring

Darnit....I missed saying the goodnights to the non late nighters :( . Guess I will behave and not make comments about Dolphins lushy table dancing since there is a mod around.....don't want the ban hammer

Hmmmm. Addictions

Alcohol
In my family, the closest we get to alcoholism is someone who likes a glass of wine or a beer every night with dinner (and sometimes two.) That is not me. When I entered the publishing industry, it was still the days of 2-hour expense account lunches. My alcohol consumption at least tripled. There were times I had four or five drinks in a single month. But those days are gone. I might have had half a beer last year but I'm not sure.

Caffeine
Fairly recent for me -- about 15 years. I fill a beer stein with iced coffee when I get up and sip it for hours. I rarely have a second but some days I do have an iced decaf later.

Nicotine
Duh!

Recreational Drugs
Tried pot a few times in college. Not for me. I get a bit paranoid and there was enough paranoia in those days just hanging out with people who were smoking.

Sugar and Carbohydrates
This is the one that's going to kill me.

It's only Friday's I get out pretty early. The rest of the week I only do the last hour from home.

When I'm actually "on call" for the week it's all done from home. Midnight to 7am weekdays and all day / night sat & sun. Thankfully there are very few calls or issues during those time frames. But we get a nice little quartely bonus for covering it 1 week per month. In fact mine should be in next week's check. :w00t:

For example I was on call the week of New years. Got one call New year's day and 2 over the following weekend. None took more than 15 minutes to resolve and I was able to do it without going anywhere. But not all weeks / calls go that easily.

Heck one Saturday when they had the big Tylenol recall I had 16 calls in like 6 hours. I was ready to quit.

Hi Poeia,

2 hour expense account lunches must have been really nice. The most I get is a 30 minute sandwich break. Which I do still enjoy but it would be nice if my sandwich was paid by an expense account.

It does seem like you are one of the lucky ones that didn't get bogged down in an alcohol addiction in themselves or in the family. We might need to have an intervention for your sugar/carb addiction though. "Your sugar and carb addiction has influenced me negatively in the following ways...":lol:

The industry changed. Within 10 years it was "eat at your desk so you don't interrupt your work."
