When I was using stock heads, it was unusual for me to get a week out of a head and that was with constant washing and dry burning. Without dry burning and cleaning, 2 or 3 days was max vape time before bad taste.
If you are using coil heads that are lower than 2 ohms, you will always be vaping at 4.2v when the iStick is fully charged and getting hot vapes. As the battery dwindles in voltage it will get better. The iStick has no buck circuit, so you can't dial in a voltage that's less than the present battery voltage.
The fix for you would be to buy 2 ohm or 2.5 ohm coil heads. 1.5 will always be hot unless you only charge the iStick to the halfway point. 1.5 ohms at 4.2v is almost 12 watts. 2 ohms at 4.2 ohms is almost 9 watts. If you can't keep the wick saturated, that could be a hot burnt vape.
Primer puffs will help. Higher resistance is the fix. 3 ohms would give you about 6 watts on a full charge. From there, you could dial it up as the battery loses charge.
