I think what really worries me is that with all the new mods and the new stance, very little seems to have gone into the vetting process. Last night we had one mod post a long, barely literate, ego inspired set of rules in a forum that has NEVER needed moderation. We now have 4 mods for a sub forum of very polite, very friendly people.

Another mod, and you know this one since you were in IRC as much as me, bragged constantly about how he performs DDOS attacks for fun and flooded IRC with spam before logging off in a huff.

These are the people that will be making the judgement calls? I can easily see the cure being many times worse than the disease in this case.

All I can suggest is that any concerns be directed to SmokeyJoe via PM. I can't stress that enough... via PM.

Personally I don't care enough to bother at the moment but I do think that it's worth being aware of the law of unintended consequences. Changing management style from a successful formula to something opposite might cause problems here.

There are plenty of other places to go if we're not allowed to be responsible citizens here.

I'm not worried at all about enforcement of rules, I think that's a good thing. What I'm concerned about is any other intervention.

I don't think that the responsible citizens, as you put it, are the ones with anything to fear.

i am sure it has and will take time for people to adjust including myself to which i have always and will always state.

if you question my actions ask me via PM and i will be glad to respond as to why i did the aforementioned action.

and in response to the the set of rules which have been removed to my knowledge where mostly a re-post of the set forum rules to begin with. and i have explained what the intention was and ultimately SJ asked to have in removed and i did. if you see offense in my action or even think it should have been handled another way that is your right but please handle the issue via a pm with me or the mod in question so it dont waste forum time on it.

That's what I'm hoping.

I do think you mods are great and appreciate your efforts. Sorry if I seem to be criticising, that's not my intention. I'd just like to see things evolve in a good way rather than through kneejerk reactions to tricky situations.

There will always be baddies, the important thing is to not let them spoil things for everyone else.

I like people being completely free to argue and voice their opinions without fear of being banned because in that way you eventually get to know who the 'real' person is behind the avatar. It soon shows up if they are good hearted or bad. There are a lot of good hearted decent people on here but they won't be so easy to spot if people are being very careful about what they say because of the moderation.

Do you mean upload? Maybe your limit is reached?
Hi Walrus, yes to upload. I can do attachments but can't even find the button to upload into my album/pictures. There's only three or four in there, don't think I've reached the limit yet. I have a new Great Grandson to introduce.
Oh, heck never mind....I didn't know I was looking at an album when I look at my photo. I clicked on it and it opened to the upload. Cripes, me dummy

Damn, your avatar just changed on me (get some sun on your forehead)! So is the difference now that you are hard deleting what other mods were seemingly soft deleting?

Rsngfrce - You took the words right out of my mouth!

Walrus - you wearing a hat all day??? Hey how is the little guy??

I think the mods have an impossible job! This place is BIG! But most do their job in an even handed manner. It's the few members that act like 7th graders that make reading a post all but impossible. My theory is if you can't let your family read a post..you shouldn't post it. Of course I guess that depends on your family..just saying.
But all that said..the posts wishing Sen. Kennedy dead and in hell were a bit much. Why would any one wish another human being dead? I am of his party and I do wish he and a few others would step down and make way for clear thinkers, but that's not how politics works.:(
