When I first got my vtube, the atomizers and carts screwed in nicely, with no play or anything. A few days later, I could wiggle the carts back and forth as I tightened them, pretty much all the way down. Does this mean it is cross threaded, or did something else come loose?

If it is cross-threaded, is it "contagious"?

I am about to get a provari. I am worried that if I screw in a cart into the vtube, which might mess up the threads, then put it in the provari, it will mess up the provari threads. Is this possible?

I'm having the same problem with my Surge tank which is aluminum. I own several aluminum Silver Bullets and this never happened before with them. I had heard that aluminum threading is soft and sooner or later you will have problems with it. I'm going to be more careful from now on and only order stainless steel mods that's for sure.

Well that might be a good idea. But there are different hardness' of Aluminum available. The Empire Mod uses one of the hardest aluminum available- hence being pretty sturdy even in the atty threads.

I think it's a general quality issue rather than a materials issue.

But then again... the specifics probably don't matter.
