Did I kill my Pico?

Hi all,
I've been a lurker for a while, and learned a lot, but I guess I need to step out of the shadows...

I just got a new Pico kit yesterday, and am new to these mod kits after using a pen/clearomizer sets for years. I tried it out yesterday with a different tank, and the box part worked well. I filled the melo tank with juice and was planning to leave it overnight to make sure the wick was well soaked before using the new tank.

Last night, I put the tank on top of the box and didn't think anything was wrong. This morning I tried to use it and everything was all wet. It appears that the tank leaked its juice down into the guts of the box.

I took the battery out and have been leaving it open to dry out and drain out the juice. I've put plain water in the tank to see if it has a leak or if I just messed up when I assembled it.

Have I turned my new Pico into a paperweight, or will it be safe to use? Is there anything else I can do to help it without making things worse?

Should be fine. When you get it cleaned up, take it outside and reassemble everything and give it a try.

Sorry to hear that! Does the screen and buttons still work? If so I would clean it up further and it should be OK..what tank leaked?

It worked this morning when I tried it and found out I had a gurgly tank and a sopping wet mod. Rather than mess with it further, I took everything apart and got the battery out.

It was the Mini Melo tank that came with the kit that leaked. I had an Triton mini on it earlier when I tested it out. So far, I think I like the Melo tank better than the Aspire, but I've got a crap-ton of 18 mg liquid that I want to use up and figured the Triton tank would be better for using with the high-nic liquid (cutting with 3mg to make medium).

I concur your mod should be fine, just make sure you clean up any juice first. Use paper towel, tissue, q-tips, etc. because air drying won't cut it.

Your mod will be fine. I've leaked loads of juice on many mods through the years.
The question is why your Melo3 leaked. Check all seals, particularly at the base of power head. Get every bit of water out before assembly if cleaning.
You don't have to prime over nite. I barely can wait 2 min on a new piece..

I would take the mod apart and clean it. As far as checking new tanks for leakage, I have one of those metal $1 tank pucks, I fill the tank place it in the puck that I leave in the sink for a while. Easier clean up, had to do with Griffin and Kanger RDA, before I got a hang of it.

If it was up to me, I would be knocking the bill man over and tearing into my vape mail out there in the yard. With my wicks for the vape pen, I learned that soaking first was more likely to save me from those nasty "new coil hits" when the juice didn't take well.

I have the Triton Mini's that will work on the Pico. The kit came with the Melo tank, and that was the leaky one. There were 2 coils in the kit, so I might try the other one if I didn't kill the box. I keep blowing it out and still getting liquid drops around the vent holes, so it may be a while before I'm ready to test it out with a new battery and tank on it.

I bought multiple colors of the Picos, and the others work well. Maybe I just got a problem child on the black one.

Wipe the mod down good with alcohol, this will help get the juice off of it. It's pretty hard to brick a mod anymore, thankfully!

Water is far thinner than any juice other than high PG, so... no (probably).

You're right about that 18mg in the Melo 3M... I included one as well and that 0.3 head goes through juice like a drunken sailor.

Makes sense as it's rated to, and capable of, 80 watts.
And the 0.5 head is built heavy as well... rated to 100w, sweet spot north of 80.

And odd choice to pair with the 75w Pico.

I'd think you would have to start will relatively low(er) VG, but you have a point.

Thank you everyone for holding this rookie's hand and your advice. I have tried the Pico this morning and it does appear to be working properly.

I contacted the retailer and asked them the same question, and they gave me some similar advice to the State of Flux article, but more specific to this tank and my newbie status. I wanted to share it here as well, in case there might be other readers trying one of these for the first time like I was.

The device should be fine to use just try cleaning it as best as possible. as for the tank, is this your first top fill tank? if so you need to be sure that the air flow is closed when filling the tank. because when you then seal the tank closed the air bubble that is trapped inside will then push the juice out of the tank through the coil and out the airflow holes.next time you fill the tank close the air flow holes, fill the tank and close it, the flip the tank upside down and open the airflow holes. once you do that the pressure will be released and you should not have any leaking issues. if you could try that and let us know the out come that would be great.
