Nic`d Up in Oklahoma!
Background: I'll have 4 years stinky free in a couple of months.

A couple of weeks ago I was towing a poj toy out to my new property when we got the 7 ton U Haul stuck pumpkin deep in some really silty sand. I had left my vape at home, and it was a two mile walk to any sign of civilisation. It had been a real hard week too as I had already been moving lots of stuff to the new place. Once I was satisfied the Ooh Haul was good and stuck, no amount of shoveling or moving rock was going to help, I was feeling quite defeated. So I says to my partner, "give me two smokes, your lighter, and shut the blank up". He obliged without a word. So I smoked those two ciggs on the walk out, and they were the nastiest things I ha ever put in my mouth. Just nasty, and so totally UN fulfilling. So I came home and had a good vape, and it really struck home, I am done smoking. There was nothing in my person that wanted to stick those things in my mouth again.

The next day we took the green thing out and pulled that You Haul out like it was a rotten poplar stump, put the green thing on the trailer that caused all the ruckess, and drove home. That was my slip. But all it did was confirm for me that I am totally a non smoker now, and a vapor for life. Those things are flipping NASTY!

:?)

Why smoke if you can vape real tobacco and get the taste of it without burning paper?
Because he'd left his vape at home. That's a terrible mistake.

When the weather is nice, I go for a daily, hour-long walk with my wife. I never used to smoke on those walks, and I don't vape on them now, but I take a vape along. Why? Because if I do something stupid like sprain my ankle, I know I'm gonna want it real bad.

They are indeed nasty. I have been vaping 7 years and haven't had a cig since. A couple years into vaping, something happened to me, the sight and smell of a cig disgusted me, I literally get queasy when I smell one, so fortunately I will never get tempted again. That's kind of awesome you didn't like them, so most likely you will never go back

I bought a pack & smoked a couple when I was in the hospital, they wouldn't allow me to have my vape pen... kinda disappointed in myself, and surprised that I let something as stupid as a nic craving get to me... first jack since 2010... since then I've cut down significantly on my vaping, I have a rule now that I won't do it unless I'm outdoors or in the car (my own car & only by myself), for others' benefit as well as mine. also reduced my nic and went unflavored, I'm at 2mg now.

My gf is happier though, she said I was making it hard for her to breathe at night bc literally doing it in my sleep, I'd go to sleep, hands empty and wake up clutching a mod.

I'm only 18 and when I was only 16 I knew it was taking hold of me REALLY fast. The day after I started smoking I was already doing 5, then 7, 10 a day by the end of the week. If I hadn't discovered vaping I'd be doing 2 packs a day by now for sure.

About a year in being tobacco-free, I had absentmindedly forgotten to recharge all of my spent batteries. Not a charged battery in the house. I was really craving some nic and didn't think I could hold out until my batteries got enough charge on them to vape them.

I caved in and took a 2 minute car drive up to my convenience store and bought a pack of Marlboro Lights and grabbed some free matches. Lit one up on the way home and DANGGGG! it was awful. I got nauseous and threw it out the window after just a couple of puffs. Threw that pack in the garbage bin before entering my apartment. By that time there was enough of a charge on one of the batteries that I could take a few vapes.

Since then, I ALWAYS have a minimum of 2 charged batteries available. I still consider myself nearly 6 years tobacco-free.

Well, I'm glad you hated them. I doubt I'll ever get to the point of hating tobacco. Trust me, I have plenty of backup vapes.

+1!

I have so many backup devices that can no longer keep count of, two sets of batteries for each mod & in the event of a rare emergency, a couple of ego devices & tanks as well as mods & tanks still new in box. Also make sure when I know am going to be gone for more than an hour, to have two tanks full on two mods and backup batteries in my pocket (in the proper plastic case).;)

Am not going anywhere w/out a mod, e-juice & spare batteries. Never!:)

100% Correct. And what if your wife falls in a hole on one of those walks? You can't just leave her there and go home and vape while you wait for the fire department show up and get her out of the hole because you just know you are never ever gonna hear the end of that. At every dinner party until the end of time, she will be talking about what a jerk you are for that time you left her down in that hole and went home and vaped. Trust me, I know. And, god forbid she damages her purse or a pair of her shoes when she hits the bottom of the hole, you are gonna want to vape while she prattles on endlessly about how sad she is over losing these special shoes and how irreplaceable they are even though they look just like 4 other pairs that she has in the closet.

This is not a worry. Think sandy beach. She does not carry a purse there, and if she's wearing shoes at all (rare), they're not ones she cares about.

And I still love the smell of an ashtray, as I walk by it. LOL. You had better believe I bring my vape everywhere... Although I am probably still at more risk at home, since my husband is still dual using.... probably LESS based on his behavior of late (he's cranky) but I can smoke a cigarette anytime I want. Willpower, and not wanting to try to detox again (once was enough) is usually what keeps me on the straight and narrow. That plus the fact that every quit is different. I feel incredibly lucky and fortunate to have put cigarettes down, and it has been my experience that it is not always "so easy" to return to a former "harm reduction" method. I really DON'T want to die of COPD. Cigarettes smell better all the time, actually, to me, as I get my sense of smell and taste back.

What a cigarette really does for me is put me in an entirely different "life space," that is peaceful, awesome, and filled with the knowledge "This cigarette could kill me... I'm stressed, so death is appealing." Stress smoking is my hardest behavior to stamp out, I still get like a headless chicken but just vape like crazy through it. Maybe it will change, but at this point, there is a part of me that feels like it wants to smoke, for the rest of my life. That may or may not change, but for now I just deal with it... simply because the alternatives are worse.

Don't get me wrong, most of the time I am thoroughly grateful for vaping, but that doesn't ALWAYS make vaping more appealing, which is why I do my best to not fall off the wagon. It usually travels a fair distance before I am even willing to climb on again, and then I have to chase the darn wagon DOWN.

To tell you the truth I loved smoking (even if I switched totally to e-cig just 2 weeks ago) and right now I have no cravings but I fear stressful situations because my body will then request strongly to go back to the killer nic. I'm not considering myself cigarette free yet but have a strong will to. I'm sad of thinking that I'll never smoke again but I'm convinced that it's for a better life. like many of you I don't want to get cancer or COPD or any other related diseases. Yesterday I read an article about a successful treatment about cancer (like many other announced treatments...) the thing is I asked my self: what if a miraculous treatment is found for cancer treatment? would I go back to smoking cigarettes? actually I cant say yes or no. I said I loved smoking despite the fact that I hated (and still hate) cigarettes.
