Newbie here.. anyway I decided to clean one of my atties since one wasn't performing nearly as well as the other.

Under the mesh metal cone I saw white stuff that I thought was the cartidge fill. I extracted it, however, it looked more like a wick than the fill. Now it barely has vapor coming out. Did I screw it up or does the atty have to completey dry?

I am new here. new with ecig and the like.
I just bought health-e cigs from dealxtreme to check out for other potential projects.

Everyone seems to know how these things work... or it is such a mystery nobody questions it. I for one would like to know.

So when I put my first cartridge into the atty and batt. I got some smoke.
"COOL" - until i pulled it apart and realized that the cartridge was empty. I almost gagged when I realized I just smoked "mystery fume"

I soon after put in a cart from the package and I was rolling.
But I was still curious so i took out the cart again and blew from the battery end and smoke came out of the atty again!

How do i know that Im smoking the nicotine in the carts and not just some random metalic gas from the atty?

Can anyone explain what an atty is and how it works in this application please??!!

In short and without getting to technical (because I probably couldn't if I wanted to), the atomizer gets heated to ~250C (might want to check that figure, I may be wrong), and vaporized whatever liquid it had "wicked" into it. Basically the atty acts like a sponge to absorb the liquid, and when it heat it vaporizes it. That vapor than gets inhaled.

If there was no liquid and it was a new atomizer, than you probably inhaled the primer that they put on the atty for storing/shipping. As far as I am aware, this is same to inhale (as everybody does it, but usually its mixed with liquid as well), but it tastes like crap. It takes about a day or so to get your atty broke in and the primer gone.
