Did the SiD really ever have a chance?

The smok SiD is basically a 7 function Max chip so I thought this would be a good place for this post. It doesn't seem smok really did too much to promote the smok SiD, maybe they felt it's similar appearance to the eVic and ability to swap tubes with it would be enough for it to carry itself. The menu can take a bit of getting used to even if you are a "max" aficionado, which here is a SiD article that has all of the instructions in case yours came without a manual like mine. But anyway, I actually like mine better than my maxes of the past. I am even considering a Kir Fanis telescoping kit for it. I got the textured silver one that shows no finger prints and it feels solid. The removable top ring is nice too for large base clearos, but not too attractive. So what are your thoughts on the Smok SiD; Silent killer or lame duck?

I've been using the SID for the past 3 weeks , replaced my Sigelei Zmax telescope , and works very nice.
I had some variations in taste and I narrowed it doen to the battery cap , once I replaced it with an eVic battery cap it's been flawless.
The SID is already tuned on RMS so one less(useless) menu and the On/Off menu is not the first one like in regular Zmax plus
you have to press three times to get into the menu so no more shutting it down or changing voltage/wattage by mistake.

Price wise is better priced than Sigelei Zmax at $45 vs ~$65 so even after you buy the Evic tube for the battery cap you're still winning
IMHO and you have a spare tube because the eVic tube works perfectly on SID.

Absolutely agree with both of you.

look30, I also replaced my Sig Telmax V3 with my SiD and have no complaints. At first I didn't want a "full size" mod at all, but I actually appreciate its size now b/c a VV/VW is my workhorse at home but I carry smaller mechanicals on the go. I don't want to fumble around looking for it in the dark or have to change the batteries every 6-8 hours, so on 2nd thought maybe I don't need the Kir Fanis, just the eVic kit. I do wish I would have held out for the red, imagine the red control unit on the chrome eVic body, I don't like that SiD is written in pink on the red tube though, too Valentine's day.

I'm in agreement with the above posters. My SID was my first non-eGo mod, and it won out over the Vamo, the ZMax, and the EVic when I went to handle them at my local B&M. It's got a pretty awesome feature set for the price. The only thing I wish the SID had was an optional flat top. Other than that, no complaints whatsoever.

no idea why the SiD wasn't bigger than it is. lightweight, very functional, quality unit. I have overall preferred it to my sigelei zmax telescope. I actually have my SiD running an aga-s right now and normally have an octo on it. Performs great. The SiD has consistently been my go to out and about mod. My only complaint was the silver finish, but a jwrap covered it (blue carbon fiber) and I've been perfectly happy for months.

Just got the Your order has been shipped memo from Health Cabin.
Now the question is... what batteries work best with this thing?
I think I have settled on the charger I want... http://www.amazon.com/Nitecore-Inte...I372/ref=pd_luc_bxgy_01_01_t_lh?ie=UTF8&psc=1

But what batteries? Button top, flat top, does it make a difference? It seem like unprotected is what it needs.. what are good ones?
(yes.. this is my first non ego, and I want it to work as well as it can)

The SID is great! Not a single problem with mine. I chain-vape with it most of the day, ...for almost 2 months! Flawless and powerful performance in a sold (thick) aluminum package. My white finish is a little discolored from constant handling, but who cares.

I recommend the SID to everyone! Amazing value. Thats rare these days.

I got tired of waiting on Health Cabin, so ordered another from MadVapes. I love them both :)

That's great my friend, quite the step up from eGo, eh? I'm sure you figured it out but any 18650 will work, flat or button top. I recommend AW or Efest. Wow, I just looked up and see you are in Tampa, glad to have another bay area neighbor here, there re quite a few of us. My buddy Tim who owns The Digital Cig has a group meet in the Valrico area. PM me if you want more info. Meets are great for checking out other gear and sampling juice, and most have door prizes, raffles, giveaways ... It's hard to walk away from a Vape Meet without something new in your hands, and it's a great way to make friends and contacts in the area. TDC ships same day if you need gear next day and I am going to send you a referral code now ...

Quick question for you - happy - SID owners, as I could not find the answer via google. :?:

Does the SID have a ten-second automatic cut-off when vaping? I always seemed to tap out on my simple eGos and VVs, do it less so on the iTaste VV 3.0... But when I do, man does it really leave me hanging. Not really a make-it-or-break-it kinda thing, seeing as I already have one en route. Just wanting to know what to expect.

Thanks!

Oh, and hope everyone thoroughly enjoys their holiday weekend!

Just got mine from Health Cabin on Thursday, and I am impressed with it so far. It is my first step beyond my ego-v. What a leap it is.
I can vape all day now from 1 charge at 8 to 8-1/2 watts.
2 and a 1/2 weeks from China, but on sale at 30 dollars plus their 5 or 6 shipping, it was worth the wait.
I bought 2 AW IMR 2000 mah batteries and a Star dual charger from Litecig I think.
I bought the silver one. It has an overall well finished look, the threading is smooth, and it does feel solid.
I don't see the SID being mentioned too much around here, and I don't know why. The oled screen and the menu system is just fine, after a few days of fiddling with it - I pretty much have it down pack.
I need to get a holster for this and its main topper - the protank 2. :toast:
