For me it was the quickest and easiest way that I've quit (3 weeks smoke free so far, at doctor's orders I might add). Nic patches, gum, lozenges never worked for me...managed to quit for about 9 months once with Chantix - unfortunately, cigs were the first thing I go for during moments of stress. For me, the real test will be if I'm analog-free a year from now. Here's hoping...

Twas' a dark and stormy night... A.K.A. a wet, miserable evening in January when I ran out of analogues and was pondering slogging to the shop to buy another pack. Remembered that I had bought some cigalikes on my UK trip at Christmas, but had just thrown them in a drawer. Thought I might as well try them so as not to waste whatever they had cost and to get me through to Monday morning. Bingo! Haven't smoked since, and am now a happy vaper after over 30 years of at least a pack a day. (Loving my new Aspire nautilus!)

Absolutely!

Started with the Blu cigalikes. Still smoked. Read here to upgrade to a APV (been lurking for a while). Went to my local tobacco store and got a dual ego 900 kit with CE4 clearos and a handful of juice and a carton of smokes. Fired up the kit when I got home and instantly liked the flavors and overall experience. Much better than the Blu. Smoked three one-halfs of a cigarette the rest of the day and oddly enough it didn't give me the usual pleasure I was expecting. All three of those attempts to smoke led me to put it out early. The last one made my stomach queasy. Said the heck with it and went full on vape the next morning. The first day was a little bit odd as I was adjusting my nic levels, but I never felt the "need" and I had some REALLY stressful moments where a smoke would have helped me through.

I have since upgraded my gear to an AeroTank and an iTaste vv for my ADV liquid and the ego kit was re-fitted with some T3S or EVOD clearos so that I can change up the flavors when I feel like it. IMO the Aerotank and iTaste vv are perfect for a beginner like me as I can customize the draw and wattage to suite the juice.

The shop owner that I bought my first kit from was surprised that I brought the carton of smokes back and wanted to get some more clearos and liquid from him.

I can't believe that I quit a 20 year pack+ habit in a day with no real intentions to quit. I really don't like the smell of cigarettes anymore and it seems like I can smell them from a mile away! I have tried the patches and the gum in the past with dismal results. I even have a bottle of Wellbutrin in my cabinet that I was going to take but might as well just s-can them now. I started with 18 nic and that was too strong for me. 6-8 nic seems to be the sweet spot so that I can ADV and not get a nic buzz. I am looking forward to mixing my own juice and eventually ween myself off nic and just enjoy the tasty vapors!

Hasn't been as easy for me, as some others posting in this thread. This is my second attempt at quiting, and have been vaping for almost a month now. When I started this adventure, I was at about a pack and a half of analogs (give or take) a day, now I am down to roughly 5 and just can't seem to kick the habit completely :( I think part of my problem is I can't seem to taste 95% of the juices I try, and some kill my throat. Kinda starting to feel that I am wasting more money trying to quit.

Got my Evod 2 set two months ago and been smokefree ever since :)
Never thought it would be that easy after 25 years of daily smoking... and that it would be that much more enjoyable than cigarettes!

What I also didnt expect was that it is a hell of a lot more expensive :p

Upgraded to a kayfun lite + and semovar v3 in my second week and sadly it trumps my Evods in all but size thats why I got something smaller in the mail right now... already I have to not smoke for an entire year to come close to something like a financial break (which I fear will never happen). But its more than worth it for health and enjoyment alone :)

At least the gear doesnt go up in smoke (usually).

Smoked a pack+ per day of Camel Filter and Camel 99s for 30 years. Tried patches, tried gum, refused to take the strange pills, and really had no desire to quit smoking.

Went on vacation last year in an area where smoking really wasn't convenient, allowed, or even possible most of the time. Bought some ecigs for me and my wife to use as supplements for the times where we couldn't smoke. They did the job, and we both continued to use them for a couple of months after while cutting back our normal smoking. During this time we were both using tobacco flavored juices, but we decided to stop at a B&M one day and just see what else there was to offer. My wife fell in love with pure menthol, and I found several flavors that I liked, so we bought a selection of flavors. Shortly after that we both quit using tobacco entirely, not because we made a conscious decision to quit but simply because we began to prefer vaping to smoking.

I walked around with a half pack of cigarettes for nearly 2 months, because I had simply stopped smoking them but didn't want to throw them away just in case I wanted one. Eventually I did toss them and haven't had a cigarette since just after Christmas. I even made it through my father's death and funeral without having a cigarette, and I considered that the ultimate test.

It gets better really fast.

I think everyone gets an initial setup then upgrades, then learns a bit more about the options that are out there, upgrades again, learns some more, and then upgrades again.

But you do eventually hit the point where you have exactly what you want and need and either run out of stuff to buy or you begin buying redundant mods just to collect them. My wife hasn't bought anything but juice and coils since last August. We buy her juice in bulk, about a 5 month supply for $48, and her coils typically last around 2 months and only cost $1.10 each, so as an estimate since August we've only spent $101.50 for her 10 months of vaping. She spent more than that in a single month of smoking.

I'm more of a hobbiest and like to play around a bit more. Like RDAs and RTAs, like mech mods and high powered VW mods, like lots of juices, so I've spent more than my wife for sure. But now I've got a DNA30 clone, a mech mod, Kick2, a couple of Kayfuns, IGO-L and Trident V2 RDAs, and a selection of clearos. I've also got a couple of smaller, more disposable eGo type ecigs to use when the larger mods aren't convenient. But, at this point I'm also only buying Kanthal, cotton, and juice and even I haven't spend more than 40% of what I would have spent on smoking.

The initial investment can be a lot, but the long term savings will come....

unless you start collecting just to be collecting.

I was a pack a day+ smoker for over 35 years. I bought me a greensmartliving e~cig. and from that
day to now I have not smoked. That was almost 3 years ago. I gave up the green smart and moved
on to flavors, tanks, and bigger better batts. But I do still have a 510 and a carto with tobacco flavored
juice for those rare times I THINK I want a cigarette! I am so glad that I took my first vape!

Wow, it's amazing how many people have quit smoking due to vaping. I was a pack a day smoker and sometimes more if I was drinking. Like most of you I tried to quit many times before and the only thing that helped me was vaping. I'm now 4 days cigarette free and what's even more amazing is I have 2 packs of unopened cigarettes sitting on my desk staring at me the whole time. I wasn't even planning on quitting but it just turned out that way. So far the mornings have been a little rough but it's getting better as the days go on. Absolutely nothing like it used to be without vaping at all, this is something I can definitely handle. Just thinking about cigarettes makes me feel sick now, lol.

I smoked three to four packs a day (Reds!) for 7 years, and needless to say I started developing respiratory problems very quickly. I purchased my first e-cig kit and within 2 days I knew that vapeing could and would help me quit if I could get the right equipment. Well I started buying some different products and trying different juices. Well I found some juices that really have me the hit I was looking for but I was viciously craving cigs. Within a week and a half I bought my first mod and an RBA to go along with it. I have had unimaginable success since then. The day I got the mod, I laid my cigs down and I have not smoked a cig in over a month now.

Absolutely it did. I went from a pack a day to Zero a day overnight. Was amazed as that wasn't the plan. Took up vaping as a way to cut down. I decided to see how long I could vape for without needing a cigarette. I vaped...........and vaped throughout the day when ever I felt like a cig and it worked fine for me. 13 months later and still off the cigs. The next part will be cutting down on the Vaping. Am going through around 4ml of 8mg juice these days. I used to be on 18MG (for first month), then down the 12mg.
Good stuff.
