I have a tumultuous history with vaping, tried NJOYs in Seattle in 2009. Tried a ego twist and a few clearos in 2012. Even tried a vision spinner with a few knockoff clearos early in the year. While I used them, they reduced my smoking, but I never quit.

About two months and a week ago, I got an MVP that came with two iClear 16s. About a week later, I didn't smoke anymore and haven't touched a cigarette since.

vaping is a new hobby now, I've recently started dripping (because I love tinkering with different coils) and the increased vapor production, not to mention I don't have to taste silica anymore. I was at least a pack a day smoker for ten years, and today I can happily say that I don't smoke.

When I quit smoking I cut back to about 3 cigs a day then when the pack ran out I went and got myself an ego type setup. Haven't had a drag off a cigarette since. That was almost 3 months ago. I can't say I have saved any money though being that I am constantly waiting on some sort of new vape goodies in the mail haha! But at least it won't kill me!

Hi! First post (though I have lurked quite a bit!), and relatively noob to the vaping world. I bought an MVP 2 about a month ago, and cut back my daily 15 analogs to 2-4 right off the bat. I have an addictive personality so I decided to wean myself off gently.

Now I am happy to say I am starting my 14th day clean and enjoying my new "hobby". My family had been pressuring me to quit pretty much when I started the habit 4 years ago, but it wasn't until I convinced myself that I wanted to quit that I felt comfortable giving up the habit (with lots of help from my PV!). I still have major cravings every now and then, and my road rage has gotten worse, but now that I have read the thread on proper ways to "hit/inhale" a PV, I think I will do better.

I love the sense of community on this site, and the mostly friendly people (silly fanboys, can't we all just get along?) that make it an awesome place to learn! I look forward to advancing my knowledge in many subjects to perfect my vaping experience and also to educate noobs like me once I get things figured out!

Vaping absolutely helped me quit smoking. I find it more addictive than smoking, though. That's just because it's more fun! The benefits are endless: No awful smells, no harmful chemicals, no cancer(that we know of), awesome flavors and tastes, no having to stand in the rain to do it, etc etc etc. It's the best decision I ever made. The key to really giving up the smoking habit though, IMO is equipment. Before I got my provari, I was still tempted to light up. After I got a really nice dripping atomizer(IGO-W), some good coil making materials, and the provari, that habit went right out the window!

I find it a GREAT deal less addictive -- read this post I just made this morning, regarding my weekend festivities with appendicitis -- http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...illness-surgery-vaper-rather-than-smoker.html -- not really typing well enough to duplicate what I wrote there.

I would think it's probably NOT designed to get you off cigs, because if that was the intention.. they'd be killing off their own business no?

unless you consider vaping the same as having quit smoking..

OF COURSE it's "the same as having quit smoking" -- there is NO SMOKE in vaping, it's VAPOR -- no ash, no fire, no smoke -- IT IS QUITTING SMOKING IF YOU DON'T SMOKE!!!

HOW you quit smoking totally irrelevant -- just that you DO quit smoking. I don't buy them, I don't light them, I don't breathe them -- THAT IS QUITTING SMOKING!!!

Andria

PS: and "big tobacco" are not the ones designing/selling the vaping devices that ACTUALLY help you quit smoking. Big tobacco is designing/selling the very inadequate "cigalikes" that are so useless and annoying than anyone who tries them either goes back to smoking, or, if they're really serious about QUITTING SMOKING, they get some better device to vape with.

But, ah, it LOOKS like smoking!

my mother sent me a disposable ecig about a year ago. thought it was pretty cool as it didn't stink, and I could use it in the house. a few months later i picked up a rechargeable cig alike. ended up having to get 3 of them to keep up with my 2 PAD (in washington that's $250-300).....still, even then I was only able to reduce smoking. never actually quit, plus refilling those cartos was a pain. I did some research, lurked on here, and talked to the guys at the B&M. decided to spend HALF of my monthly smoking budget and ordered some legit gear from MBV along with a variety of 36mg juice. I haven't smoked since, not one! I've reduced the nic to 18 for my tanks and 4.5 for dripping.

there are some occasions that I feel like I should have a smoke, but not like a temptation, just my brain telling me, this is a time that I would be smoking. as time passes, I have those less.

I still spend around $100 per month on vape stuff, but the further I immerse myself in the hobby/DIY end of it, the less it actually costs. this month, I will spend 0. but I am running low on PG/VG/nic so next month I'll go a bit over.
My wife still smokes, so if I ever felt like going back to smoking there's a few packs laying around I think I still have a half a can of Drum out in the garage as well. I try to hang out with her when she smokes, but I really cant stand the smell any more. I don't think I will go back not even a complete ban or excessive taxes will stop me from vaping. I actually enjoy vaping, which is a fun, fairly inexpensive hobby.
just to reiterate a few points from others and a few of my own.
1. I'm saving money and the money I'm spending is not lining politician pockets.
2. I enjoy vaping. I had not enjoyed smoking for many years.
3. I might live longer. the end of my life is less likely to be strapped to an O2 tank.
4. buying LEGIT gear was essential to quitting cigarettes. cig alikes are not designed to work for chronic smokers.
5. having a decent variety of flavors was crucial. some sound better than they are.

I smoked a pack a day for over 20 years I went to my local vape shop after several folks recommended I give it a try. I tried all the other methods of quitting just couldn't seem to quit. I sat down and had one of the sales guys show me the ropes and tried a couple of flavors the first toke I coughed just like everyone else. It is was like starting to smoke all over again. I bought a tobacco flavor an eGo click set with the iClear 10 tanks and began the foray of begining to vape. I had two packs of cigarettes left and decided I would continue to smoke however, I smoke two other cigarettes and have had one since. At the same time I changed juices to a non tobacco flavor because the tobacco flavor tasted like a wet cigarette.

I found those last two to be the most important in finally quitting. Quality equipment was a major factor for quitting for me. I also love it when shops use good testers and keep them running up to par, unlike half of the shops I've been to. It's important to me to be able to taste something properly before I spend money on it.
