Yep. Premier Supermatic, Roland Light tobaccco from D&R, McClintock Menthol, Vera Cruz Noc.tubes. Also had the electric 'Magnum' and QuickRoller. My supply of MYO exceeds my juice supply which is currently bumping against 2 years. (never paid the 'new SCHIPS tax'). With the Magnum I could make a carton in about 40minutes at @$.75 pack.

I'd go back to it if I have to. Otherwise the tobacco becomes currency. Tobacco ages better than juice. Actually, like some wines, it gets better with age if stored properly.

I did RYO since Jan of 2008 even with the tax hike it cost me 1.10 per pack all said and done. I still have all the supplies but I do not miss it I started out with a cheapo plastic double roller from premier and only one side ever worked on it. I have an electric one that seemed to take forever to roll a carton and I have a supermatic hand crank machine that I could crank out a carton in 15 minutes hubby has timed me several times in the past.

I do not miss rolling that is the nicest way and the only way I can post it on this forum. There is no way that filling, chaging or doing anything with an ecig can equal out the time I spent rolling and cleaning up on almost a daily basis. Hubby smoked two cartons a week and I smoked 1 1/2 cartons a week so it was either roll nightly or roll a massive quanity all at one time.

That is almost the exact same amount I was cranking out for the wife and myself for years. Pre-vacation was hell. lol. I did 'books on tape' while cranking a way or with the Magnum stuffing, etc. I enjoyed my time... but don't really miss it. DIYing juice is very similar except you have to keep more attenion on your work. ;-)

I rolled my own for the last year and a half befor I tuned to vaping. I gave everything to my sister. Maybe she'll convert one of thes days, too. And NO, I don't miss it at all. I swear, by the time I had all my stuff out and ready to roll I had half the kitchen table covered. My wife never said anything (non-smoker), the silence said enough.

I did the same thing, I have been buying empty cartons and filling them myself every morning with really dark tobacco. I bought it from a cigar store where they sell containers of nice tobacco, but when I first started buying it, it costs like 30$, now its about 80$ after the state and federal taxes went up. I know that stuff is full of tar and my lungs are starting to feel it. Luckily my first e-cig will be arriving this week, so im saying bye to that mess!

Rolled my own for the past several years...saved me a lot of money, but probably didn't do my health any good going over to filterless, hand rolled smokes.

I have one and a half pouches of rolling tobacco and half a dozen packets of cigarette papers a few feet from me...I keep looking at them and wondering if I will ever use them again...I think my faithfull old Zippo lighter has gone dry as well. :)

.

Same here, Still have a pound and a half of " Good Stuff " pipe tobacco , a couple of boxes of tubes, and my" top o matic " sitting here. But I did use the 100 mm tubes with filters.

We never went the RYO route, but we did go to buying from overseas. That in itself is a bit of a hassle - have to order a month in advance, have to pick it up from the post office since it has to be signed for, always a bit of worry that it wouldn't make it here and you would be out money, etc. We did this first because of cost. Marlboros and Winston Menthols average out to $25 a carton with shipping. Occasionally a shipment would be late, we wouldn't order in time, etc., and we would have to buy cigs here in town. Price was around $5-6 a pack for Marlboros. In addition, they went to the fire safety thing that we absolutely hated. You almost had to keep puffing away to keep it lit!

I am really hoping that we can switch to vaping. We are down to about 2 cartons each and I haven't reordered yet. I should have done so last week in order for us not to run out. We had to order our kits from one vendor and ordered other items from another vendor. Extra batteries, carts, fluid - those have all come in, but we still need attys and a charger to arrive, so we are just being teased right now!

Sorry that I didn't really follow the original question, but we did do an "alternative" to buying locally which took some time and thought.

I have used the machine before never liked it. I always got a little bit of the tube before the filter that never got tobacco. so I went to rolling my own and got pretty good at it once my stepfather showed me how to roll them with a dollar bill. but I never liked the taste or the smell of cigs I was just addicted to them. so as soon as I got my e-cig I havent had the urge to go back, which my wife loves since she has never smoked before. It was funny after I would smoke I would have to jump in the shower then brush my teeth after eating something so that I didnt smell like cigs. I dont miss that one bit.

I still do not end up with the mess with the DIYing juice that I always had with rolling no matter how careful I was.

Lol. I know what you're talking about. I made a 'rig' that sat on the supermatic - plastic top of a vegetable carton from the supermarket, that 'contained' most everything.

Plus I had the supermatic fit down in a piece of plywood on top of a counter, so I could crank one handed. Had visions of a 'feeder' for the tobacco as well, but dry substances don't 'flow' well. :)

Love the Supermatic modification. That must have been a time saver. LOL. I'd considered the plywood counter-sinking but never thought of the tobacco tray. If I was still doing that.....I'd take that idea.

Thanks. I modified it later to where it was only on the (left) side of the crank and then used a plastic saltine box

- cut on a 60 degrees so that I could drag the tobacco toward the slot, that layed on the plastic.

Wife still smokes @5 a day so I'm still cranking. Just no so often.

Me too! Supermatic and D&R tobacco products. Still have 4 pounds in storage just in case. I have about 30 boxes of tubes too.

I don't miss it, it was getting to be a hassle to make time every day to stuff enough cigs for the next day. I was smoking 3 packs a day. And you know what? I never knew that by handling all that tobacco with my hands that I was getting more nicotine than just by smoking alone.

I have learned a lot over the short time I have been vaping.

I have a bit more ;-)

Well, you weren't getting more, just getting some. Smoking is the best carrier, unless you're shooting it up ;-)
