If a person is wanting to quit combustables, this will totally work for them. If they're not willing to quit, then there is no chance of it.

I also noticed that a person who has no interest in vaping tends to dramatically cough when they try it. I didn't cough when I tried it. My husband didn't cough when he tried it. My neighbor (who I NEVER thought would quit) didn't cough when she tried it. In fact, the first time I offered it to her, she said, "No thanks." When she ran out of smokes and was having a nic fit, she changed her tune. I set her up. No dramatic coughing... The first drag can be a little harsh because of the difference, but the dramatic coughing and hand waving is totally uneccessary.

Tuesday, I'll be driving a smoker around. She's not going to be allowed to enjoy a smoke in my truck. I'll be happily chain vaping though, as I normally do when driving. I'll have an extra setup on me that has something delicious in it for her, in the event she can't take my "no smoking" rule. Why am I being so mean? On Friday, apparently they were all talking about e-cigs and how they don't work for those wanting to quit smoking and that she'd rather get cancer the "legitimate" way - right as she lit up a smoke. I wasn't there and I don't think she even knows I vape, she just thinks I'm a non smoker. Of course, others who know I vape brought it to me immediately, lol. I'm the only vaper in the organization. So now, I have to prove her wrong. I'm not strong arming her, but I resent her comments because they were uninformed yet she tried to speak with authority because her daughter tried a disposable that did nothing for her.

Great setup! I can't wait to hear the rest of the story from Tuesday. Please keep us informed.

Many newbies complain about the startup costs of vaping, which admittingly can be expensive to those on a budget. However, I always ask them how much did they spend the previous month on cigarettes. It's usually over one hundred dollars, and they had no problem spending that. I advise that once the batteries and a charger are purchased and a month's supply of juice and juice carrying devices are purchased, the following month's purchases can be limited to just replenishing more juice and carry devices. They can end up saving a lot more with vaping than if they continued to smoke.

I tell them to think of the started kit as a carton of cigs!

I think most people like it if they have an open mind. I let a friends mom (smoker) try mine and she never really even gave it chance... she took a few puffs sucking way too hard, coughed and didn't want any more. I didn't push the issue. I agree with most people that as they get more popular you will see less of this.

I do find this very interesting - it is actually something I have wondered about myself. I am a little different in that I ended up quitting and I was not planning to. I have smoked for 46 years, I love smoking and was one of the hard core smokers that would makes statements like - well we all have to die of something. I like smoking and I am just going to smoke.

So what has amazed me is I quit - but wasn't planning to - didn't really even want to. Now my best friend has COPD and has been trying to quit for years. She has tried the patch, Chantix (it made her pretty crazy and I begged her to go back to smoking) and for the last 2 years the Nicorette gum and lozenges. She tried my cigarette like (which had way less TH and vapor) and immediately coughed. She tried my Twist - dialed down to 3.2 and coughed. Said - well I don't really need the illusion of smoking - I will just quit using my lozenges. She is still smoking and at times can barely breath  Oh and she coughs every time she lites a smoke too.

One of my sons has been talking about quitting for some time. He has also quit in the past with the patch and/or gum. I offered to let him try my PV and tried to tell him how well this has worked for me - told me it sound like I was lecturing and he would think about it. He would not even try it. Another friend who has been smoking as long as me - also tried my little cig like and coughed. But shows no interest in trying it.

My youngest son actually tried - didn't cough and said it tasted good - but it not interested in quitting at this time. My friend with COPD has her 73 yr sister visiting right now - she tried my Twist and did not cough. She actually asked for information and said she is going to get her daughter to look into ordering one for her when she gets home (we will see).

I think as smokers - we all probably know by now that we SHOULD quit. That is a lot different than actually wanting to quit. I am not sure I understand how someone that professes to "want" to quit can't with vaping  then someone like me who didn't even plan to quit actually can  I think it really is more if a person is willing to try something different. Then to actually realize that vaping tastes better than smoking and you don't have competely give up something you love to do.

So for me - that is key - willingness to try something different. Willingness to put up with that fact that it is not as easy as opening a pack, taking out a smoke and lighting it. Some people are not willing to try something new or different - even if it could save their life

A couple weeks ago, I knew almost nothing about e-cigs. I was in Walgreens and spotted a Blu disposable and some other brand disposable so I got one of each. That evening I fired up the disposables and my computer and started researching. Not only did I not smoke that night, I didn't even think about. The next morning, the Blu was sitting right next an open pack of Pall Malls, and without hesitation I reached for the Blu. I knew right then that this was going to work for me. I truly believe that the whim purchase of those two disposables is a life changing event for me. I'm hooked.

Sticking with it is all about 3 things. Convenience and ease, wanting to quit, variety and taste. If we could only remove all of the unreliable knock offs and amateurish ejuice makers, less people would waste money on bad setups and ultimately more people would vape. Just my opinion.
Fortunately it's still an emerging and evolving field not the end of a highway.

I completely agree with this. Vaping is awesome. It feels good, it tastes good, and it's a perfect substitute to smoking cigarettes. But an individual that tries vaping in order to stop smoking cigarettes has to WANT to stop smoking cigarettes. I truly believe that most smokers want to stop smoking. I absolutely love smoking. I love getting that new pack, packing them down, and ripping the foil off the top to see twenty fresh cigarettes, knowing that now you're gonna be good for the whole day.....

But in the back of my mind I always knew that I had to quit. I wanted to quit, and I've tried in the past with varying success. But ultimately I always failed. If my willpower was strong enough I was able to beat the physical nicotine addiction in about a week. I no longer craved nicotine. But I ALWAYS missed smoking. That was the beginning to and end for me. When I wasn't smoking I felt an emptiness inside me. I had smoked for so long that I didn't know how to function without the physical act of smoking. I didn't know how to take a break at work. I would get done doing simple tasks like cleaning the house, and then stand there wondering "what do I do now"? As smokers we know that we begin and end EVERYTHING with a cigarette. Without them you become almost lost. Ultimately this is why I always ended up smoking again. Just to feel normal. Or at least what I perceived to be normal.

This being said, I knew that I had to find some way to quit. In the back of my mind I always wanted to quit, I just didn't want to give up my way of life. The life that I have enjoyed for so many years. After all, if I don't quit, I'm gonna end up in an early grave, right?

Now, some smokers consider themselves "lifers" They have decided that they are going to smoke until the day they croak, and that's all there is to it. These are the people that are almost impossible to convert to vaping. They don't want to quit. They have no desire to try or accept something new. They just want to smoke cigarettes, and thats it. I know many people like this.

Then there's the rest of us. Smokers that want to quit, have tried to quit many times, and haven't been successful in the long term. We are the type of people that are open to vaping, and once we try it, we really really embrace it. We see it as a way out. FINALLY, there is something else we can do to stop smoking cigarettes, yet continue our lives as we know them. We can continue our rituals. We don't have to give up something that makes us happy. We simply switch to something that doesn't destroy our body's or our health. I may have strayed a little off topic, but I felt this really needed to be said. Not everybody is going to take to vaping. But if your one of the 90% of smokers that wants to quit, but doesn't want to flip their entire life upside down and inside out, vaping is the answer.

As a smoker for 30 years and new to vaping and e- cig concept , I Totally appreciate what is said on this thread and relate to this .
I concur the main reason for writing is for the emotional component , the need to journal about it and get support.
Help guys I need to find satisfaction understanding to keep going .

As with the success with riding all addictions and compulsive behaviors you have to want to . I guess its not that easy unless you are determined to over come...
Vapping to me seemed to be the answer and alternative I have been looking for a long time.I just wish right now as I write this that I could find enjoyment I am going through gess I am going through withdrawals as I am in day six.

Cut my smoking down to 60% however each time I have an ecig my head feels whoozy , my ears feel funny and it hasn't satisfied me yet?

If ya dont mind me asking So what is going on ?
And does the nicotine make me feel that way or is it the type of juice additives in those e cigs?

But when I finally get my fix on the analog I feel somewhat satisfied but still crappy Any reason ?
Btw had my first analog for the day and boy I am dizzy and still feel like-junk but still feel like I need another one??????????
Any suggestions?:blink::unsure::(

Big time thanks

I'm no expert by any description, but it sounds like you might need some higher nic juice. The right nic strength let's you puff about 5 minutes and put it down satisfied, like a smoke would.

As for feeling woozy with the ecig: maybe you're dragging too hard on it? Vaping needs a slow easy drag for a longer period of time than a cigarette (unlike the hard pull "trying to suck a marble through a straw" that I'm sure all of us have done on an analog). I find it effective to drag and puff a bit with my lips open (imagine the way analog pipe smokers puff). The extra air mixes with the vapor and gives me even more flavor.

Hi. My first post...

You are describing me down to a tee here. I am exactly the same. I have smoked for 20 years and I have never found it hard to beat the nicotine addiction. After a week I don't crave at all. But the problem is I always go back. It may take a few weeks or once or twice even a few months, but I always go back. I just miss it too much.

This time though, I really feel like it's different. I have been vaping for two weeks now and I think this is it for me. It is just such a good replacement.

I even love to tinker with things and play with gadgets so for me all of the different kit out there and flavours to try suits me down to the ground.

I just wish I'd found out more about ecigs sooner.

This forum is great too. There's just so much helpful info here.
