parked is completely correct in that technically he did not do anything illegal or anything not spelled out in his agreement.

however, there are many ways to go about something. and people don't have to like it.

i get spam from sister companies of companies I order from, and even though I knew that was a possibility when I signed up I don't like it. never have, never will. I unsubscribe at every available opportunity. and I make it a point to limit my exposure to those situations.

The fact that the brother's company has the dietsmokes copyright substantiates your point.

The email is actually from dietsmokes. It would be like if you signed up for emails from Coke and got some emails on Sprite (owned by Coke).

I don't see a problem and I second the forum move.

I beg to differ. The email is not from dietsmokes. I learned how to read a long time ago. The 'sent' line is BelowZeroLiquids.com. The 'reply-to' is an address at gmail.

If the mail had come from dietsmokes (as a previous one had) I wouldn't be making a fuss.

I pretty much agree with what JustJulie said in the post above.

And Parker, I agree with everything you said. You can do what you want with our information. And we can do what we want when deciding whether or not to support you in the future. I'm not accusing you of doing anything illegal. I just personally don't find it very ethical.

Just because something is right doesn't make it right.

Exactly.......but let's all start flaming companies right here for anything we don't like. Apparently forun protocol has now changed where this is not only appropriate, but actually endorsed by ECF...............

Light up those torches everyone!!

Ummm, I like Parked's (that looks funny) site, he does an outstanding job getting orders out rapid fire, and his stuff is good.

But I don't like getting e-mails unless I solicit the site, so I just "opted out" my e-mail from who's it's site. If everybody did that my mailbox would be bulging every single day, I use Bookmarks for my favorites, I do not keep annoying spam mails. I mark them as garbage if I can't opt out.

I guess I don't see the OP as a flame. He expressed doubt that address may not have been sold and asked for thoughts.

I didn't know we could only express good reviews of products and sites outside of the supplier forum... :D

Ok... I'm going to close the thread now. Both sides of the situation have been presented. Parker did make a valid point to me that there's no reason to dredge up old accusatons.

That said... I'm closing it... not deleting it. While there's no need for a pile-on, I still think it's a valid thing to point out. I will also change the title of the thread from 'sold/gave away' to just 'gave away'. I see nothing wrong with that title as that is exactly what happened.
