BUT, I feel like my mouth is coated in wax or petroleum jelly. I want to say cotton mouth, but it feels more like its greasy (repelling saliva)

I had a feeling of a light coat of wax coating my tongue and mouth. For me, I found out what it was. I had bought VG Glycerin 99% Anhydrous to mix with the juices that were too strong for me. When I got a bottle of PG that I ordered online, I got no waxy feeling. I've tried the PG with different juices, and all is good now. Maybe you got VG juices?

I think you might be right..I tried VG for the first time the day before and it totally messed up my atomizer..maybe it was left over after I cleaned it out..

Thanks so much

I don't want to sound critical but these multiple ALARMING titled posts are getting me a little "peeved" and "suspect". You think that some of your "side effects" could be from either stopping or reducing the use of cigarettes? Your description would make one think you are being poisoned. Out of all the thousand of posts I've read, I never read one that sounds so alarming.

Again, I'm not trying to down play any legitimate concerns but it just seems a little too alarming from a description stand point.

And again, no disrespect intended.

Um, no I don't think its from quitting analogs before I quit for all 3 of my pregnancies and never had side effects like that..

Didn't mean to sound "so alarming" as you stated but to be honest it freaked me out and wanted to know if it was normal or not..

What do mean too alarming from a description stand point? I thought this was the place you could come and get advice etc..if Im wrong please correct me

The spot light is being shined on our activity. A thread title that stated "what differences have people noticed between different brand liquids" instead of side effects I think would have been a little less "alarming". I mentioned it because my pharmicists went on this site to learn more about PV's. She told me she saw several posts, one very similar (and I think the same one) to your initial query and description of "side affects". Her impression was you were stating that vaping was causing you all sorts of illnesses and so she was going to warn people not to try it as an alternative to smoking.

I agree with you that we should ask each other for help and comparison points for different devices and liquids. But I have to admit, if I read your description about someones fingers shrinking up and my next thought was they would start falling off, I would run as far away as possible. I'm sure that's not what you were saying but just reading those side affects would have me running for the door.

And again, no disrespect intended.

LOL, OMG, I never stated my fingers were shrinking up..I stated they felt tight or dry..Ok this post isn't even worth defending anymore..

I guess we are only allowed to post positive side effects? There have been plenty of people complaining of other much worse things like chest pains so I can't believe Im getting flamed for my post..

:(

I'm sorry, no flame intended. I have seen a number of these "side effect" posts lately and I was disappointed in the reaction from my pharmicist. You should always reach out to others for advice. Sorry if this came out the wrong way.

MissVapor,

The "waxy coating" you're experiencing should be short lived. I experienced the same thing for about a week with both PG and VG juice. I came to the conclusion either the mucus lining in my mouth was adjusting to being analog free or to the taste of juice. Either way, the use of a little mouth wash from time to time reduces the waxy effect.

I have just recently started and have experienced that waxy sensation along with a bit of throat irritation. Not bad irritation just a bit scratchy throat. Im not sure what the cause is either. Since I am not vaping excessively yet, about a cart a day so far as I switch from analogs, I don't think it is over-use. May be something that passes on it's own as my body adjusts from analogs to vaping, could be coincidence being as I happened to start vaping at the begining of allergy season here, though I don't really have much in the way of allergies the higher pollen content can cause some sensitivity at times with irritation from post nasal drip. Could be I need to adjust the way I inhale as I am new to this. May be I need to cut the juice strength (11mg) with some of the non-nicotine juice since I have always smoked light anaogs. Could be I may not be tolerating the PG juice as well as I might VG (I just ordered the VG to try out too). May be a combination of factors....time will tell.

I will be a bit disappointed if it is a PG intolerance as the 2 flavors I am really enjoying the most (Rose & Cola flavors) I haven't found in the VG yet. I will probably still order more of the PG in those flavors even if this persists but use them sparingly.

On the issue with the dry, tight skin on your hands it may be that the nicotine is a bit drying either from contact with the vapor or accidental contact with the juice but I would think with some extra care to limit exposure or wash hands, a bit of lotion applied and making sure you are drinking enough water for healthy hydration such would resolve easily....minor magics. As for the waxy feeling I am resolvig such with more frequent attention to oral hygene (mouth wash & brushing teeth extra times a day) which is only going to serve to provide better dental health.

So far I am enjoying the experience immensely despite the minor issues I have experienced during the initial adjustment phase...and I would much rather deal with these minor things than continue to risk all the dangers, drawbacks and long term health effects that come with the analogs.

I second this. They do seem minor to me too. It can be tedious and its not as convenient as picking up a pack of smokes and just lighting one up. And the side effects so many people feel coincide with so many that people report when they quit smoking (cold turkey and with NRTs) that it can be very confusing as to what is causing what. But everyone reports that symptoms subside- the major ones anyway- and that is reassuring.
Also to add, I feel like I am carrying drug paraphernalia with me, dropper bottles and carts and batteries and chargers and attys...I have my own little ecig shop with me at all times! But I am in love with feeling better...I love getting my cake and eating it too!

I get that waxy feeling in my mouth too. In the middle of the night I have to get up and brush my teeth again. Sometimes it feels like the same coating is in my sinuses. I haven't smoked since I got my E-cig 3 weeks ago, so I don't think it has anything to do with that. I got my juice from eliquidplanet and I don't know if it is PG or VG, or if it might have to do with the flavoring... From what I have been able to find here the flavorings are oil based (?) Maybe that has something to do with it. I'll be watching this thread to see what you find out.

I'm glad there is open discussion on side effects here. Thanks for posting.

Bumping an old thread. Anyone else experiencing this waxy feeling? I have been vaping vg/pg mixes and only started vaping 8 days ago. My teeth and mouth feel vaseline coated and my face and hair feel coated in a wax sheen. I can hardly get shampoo to suds up after a day of vaping and I have to really wash my face a few times to remove the waxy feeling. I wonder if it is vg or pg that is causing this or is it specific to one of the juices I bought? It has me a bit concerned, I wonder if my lungs are coated in the same.

Miss Vapor, there are so many different juice vendors out there to try! Maybe you should try something organic? One vendor I've used that offers organic juices is Vaprite.com. So far the only flavor from him that I truly do love is his cake batter. I've had wonderful luck/experience with Viking Vapor and his prices truly can't be beat. VERY flavorful juices (I do a 50/50 mix)... the kahlua and cream is amazing, as is the chocolate mint. Plus, he's got over 100 flavors to choose from. A 30ml bottle is only $9.95!!!
