Yes they have updated the design.
You will notice 2 cutouts on the base for airflow instead of 4 and a smaller center air hole on the base.
The coil/cup design has also been improved with the coil raised up a bit and centered better.
I like the performance of this new design better. The only downside is it now holds about 1ml instead of 1.2ml.

The one on the right is the new design.

im really not happy with the new design ive tried 4 out of 5 all have poor vapor production and burnt flavour tried different pg/vg ratio juices different cleaning methods i cant get them to work half as good as my old ones (theyve been used daily for 2 weeks)...

anyone else having issues? also had two of them leak to the point that juice was dripping down the sides of the battery.....

How bad is the leak, I found mine to leak when the juice goes down a little more than half and this is tripical for CE3 regardless old or new. Brunt taste, you might wanna make sure you don't screw in too tight just enough to activate battery. Don't use clone is you use X2. Do you see bubble out from air chamber? Can you check ohm resistant on your CE3 you might get different one than what SI want to sale which is 2.4 -2.6 if I remember correctly. In that case I think you can contact SI for replacement.

This is not typical.
I only get this when I've botched up the fill hole so it is no longer air tight, have a crack in the tube or if the post is raised too high.

I can vape down to the wicks without ANY leaking and have done so for about a thousand fills over the past months of using them.

Almost CE3 I have 14 of them would develop a little bit of leak not pure down rain when juice level is down more than half if carry around in pocket. This leak will show on top of battery or battery post on CE3 itself. I can also smoke down to the last drop of juice too if I careful enough.

What you may be seeing is condensation from un-vaped vapor.
I get this on my automatic batteries or on my manuals if I stop sucking before releasing the power button. The vapor inside of the center tube that is unvaped returns to liquid form.

I don't classify that a "leak".

I don't have to baby these at all. I always have a 78 with a CE3 in my jeans pocket.

I've used X2 clearos, CE3s, 3ml CE3s, T2s, T3s, and Nanos. With the exception of the Nano, I've gotton a little bit of liquid on the battery with every clearo I've used. I've come to consider this normal, and it's part of the reason I switched to manual batteries. As long as it's just a drop or two and you wipe it off when you switch batteries or clearos, it doesn't hurt anything.

I just thought we are trying to help OP regarding burn taste and leaking. I'm just compare between old and new CE3. You might not consider as problem and so do I. Im just telling him if the "leak" he got is something like mine that would happen with both old and new CE3. I myself love CE3 so much that I ordered 5 boxes just to have them on hand and I will continue to order this CE3 as long as SI sell them.

It's probably a lack of communication.
When somebody talks about leaking, images of a significant ammount of fluid pouring out comes to mind.
I was trying to distinguish between "leaking" and some condensation that naturally occurs.

The condensation never bothered me. It's not enough to harm the sealed volt batteries (both automatic and manual), and I just take a tissue and wipe the battery terminal when it happens.

The leaking i experienced was after two uses, no cracks or botched fill hole, it was would empty from full in minutes.

The burned flavour on the next ce3 i used, that has now stopped. It burned for about one or one and half days, then it finally stopped. The flavour in that one is not as good as my old Ce3s. I would say that the design is for the better, the plastic seems much better. Not sure about the wicking though.

Still much better than the nano's when it comes to flavour and vapour though.

About the only thing that can cause a leak like you have is a loss of air seal. These work much like holding you finger on a straw filled with liquid. If no air is getting in, it won't leak...its as simple as that.
